For a vacation, would you want to go to the shore, the mountains, or see the sights in a city?
hello my friend Aviannovice...I love all three venues but, if I had to choose one; it would be the mountains (preferably with a nearby clear, clean, deep lake). I love the beauty of shadows, sunrise, sunset and midday illuminated colors of mountainous terrain. I really like the shore, too...particularly north of where i live...in Oregon and Washington state. The sound and soothing quality of the ocean's movement; tidal waves....is wonderful. I've lived in large cities but, as I've gotten older, the allure is less attractive to me.....great question.
I'd love to see the mountains, but I'm not really one for trying to scale peaks or anything. So I'd rather head off into a forest or nature reserve and just shut out the modern world for a short while.
I sure understand that, James. If I didn't have the lake, I wouldn't have anything.
I lived off the shore in Maine growing up..,it was so restful, relaxing, and even though it was very cold, swimmable. It was very clean in Downeast Maine.
I am going to be greedy on this question; I want to see all of it.
I don’t get a chance to vacation (that is a very rare occurrence for me), so I want to have the chance to see everything.
I have never seen the ocean and I would love to. Is it really salty?
I would love to see the Rockies, do they really show up purple?
I would love to see the historical cities that are around the USA from coast to coast.
I told Joe that when I retire, I want to buy a large RV and travel all over the USA. We can fill up the tank and drive until we run out of gas, stay there until we get our next check then travel again. Go north in the summer, south in the winter. Now that is the life for me!
Wow, Kathy, that sounds like a great retirement plan! Yes, the ocean is salty, unless you run into fresh water channels, but you will notice them. The Rockies show up purple due to the colors around them, the sky and the sun.
Definitely, go to the mountains. Since fall is coming up, I would love to stay in a cabin amongst the changing leaves, and hike the nearby trails.
Oh the choice. I've lived in a city most of my life but never tire of looking at buildings learning a bit about the place, noise pollution, traffic, people , yay......
I now live about 10 mins from the coast which can be pretty spectacular too, and the area is quite mountainous but not the cold snowy type. So for my holiday? I have to say I really don't mind, I just love visiting new places, even for a day.
That's great that you can appreciate the area that you live in. Everything sounds relatively close.

HELP!Okay, I'm over the depressing weather in Porland, OR. I've had my last winter here, I really have. Which is so sad because there's so much we love here- the mountains, ocean, trees, desert, the open-minded attitude and our awesome friends. But, the weather sucks. I miss snow,...
