How long do you reckon you would need to drive across Canada ?

I am trying to work out air tickets and we would love to drive across from New York to Seatle where our cruise goes from going in and out of Canada as well .
Would 2-3 weeks be enough to see a reasonable amount ?

It depends.  Are you sightseeing across Canada or just trying to get from east to west?  If the latter, then drop down into the US and use the highways.  From what I understand, that is the fastest way.  Using i 94, 3880 miles from Halifax,NS to Vancouver, BC about 55 hours.  Transfer Canada highway is 5000 miles and roughly 70 hours.

We want to enjoy sightseeing along the way not just rush on highways . Wondered if 3 weeks was a decent amount of time to enjoy a few places along the way .

I added a little to the first comment.  If you drove straight through it would take three days.  So, three weeks gives you tons of sightseeing time.  http://wikitravel.org/en/Trans-Canada_Highway

if you just go to places that the TransCanada highway pass through, 3 weeks is not bad. if you want to see most of Canada, it will be impossible .

I know a few people who have driven across Canada. I say your estimate of 2-3 weeks is pretty accurate.
