I'm spending almost $1000 ($700 on travel, $300 on other stuff) on my upcoming trip to England (my home country) but normally I wouldn't go over a few hundred. My husband and I tend to pick nearby places to visit and go on the cheap. Our one big expense is food -we're both suckers for delicious cuisine.

Those all sound like awesome trips! $2000 for 4 people isn't so bad, and an overnight minibreak can really make a big difference. Thanks for your answer.
It certainly helps to break up the costs. Airfare is usually pretty pricey, especially in peak season, but a 2 week trip to Paris sounds delightful. Thanks for your answer!
That sounds like an incredible trip! Glad you had fun and thanks for your answer.
Thanks for your answer Melanie. I think you're very right that costs depends on how you travel. I always prefer to stay somewhere longer if I can. Two months in Paris sounds incredible.
