I could put "romantic" in quotation marks like this as I haven't been and don't want to assume there is truth to this labelling (and people must have diverse experiences in different places), but you hear it many times! I heard it again just last night...

"..the most romantic place on this earth is not a place at all. It is that feeling inside that warms the heart and tickles your fancy. It is the person with whom you share this perfect feeling." - Very well stated!
I can dream of moments like these- I've had romantic moments at home but it hasn't been on a (big) trip, thanks for your detail about places you've been and how it moved you, I hope to visit the Austrian Alps one day!
Excellent point! Very few people feel like the city (they live in) is the most "romantic" in the world. Being (on vacation) can "romanticize" most major cities one is likely to visit.
Living in a city changes your perspective about everything!
Yes that must be true, and Venice is so unique that I've always wondered if I was more likely to have a romantic time there (as others have said it's very well likely however to come down to who you're with..).
Yes I agree that it must come down to the time in your life and the person you're with, even though either way a vacation has a way of "taking you out" of your life... And people could have bad day to day experiences in a certain place that ruins it!
Yes that sounds true...
Some people speak very highly of Rome yeah.. One day I'll get there and to Greece!
Your cousin must have strayed away from tourist sections of town! :)
Clearly The Avenue des Champs-Élysées and Eiffel Tower areas contain both modern and quaint areas. Some of the tourist places like Moulin Rouge are in a less desirable area
Must have been years ago. Even the run down parts of the city are reviving. Streets and trash are not cleaned as often (budget restraints) but are still pretty darn clean. When you walk a few blocks in any direction, there's a park. So beautiful!
My folks went to Paris and said they saw lots of homeless people (and memorably they had dogs and cellphones/mobile phones). Every city has homeless people, and with the best intentions this or an unsightly building here or there is less romantic...
Yes that is true you probably want to be with the right person and both be romantics... I wonder if many people have had a romantic time on their own?! (It is possible to an extent no doubt...!)
