Do you want to know my favourite things or info. about Ireland?

You know so little about Ireland? tisk tisk...

1/ Half of Australia is from Ireland, you probably have ancestors from here. Oh an your best friends the New Zea landers are made up of a tonne of Irish.

2/ People in Ireland don't like Brain McFadden, euwww

3/ The Script, Thin Lizzy, U2, The Cranberries, Sinead O Connor, Enya, Liam Neeson, Colin Farrell, Pierce Brosnan, Cillian Murphy, Gabriel Byrne, Kenneth Branagh, Stephen Rea, Ciaran Hinds, Stuart Townsend....are Irish!

4/ Ireland is responsible for St. Patricks Day and The origional Halloween came from Ireland

5/ Irish people are officially 'The Friendliest people in the World' according to polls.

6/ Ireland has tonnes of mythology other than leprechauns! Irish people are pretty superstitious. I'm sure youve heard of the 'Banshee'.

7/ Ireland was taken over by England over 800 years ago and got back most of the country in the early 1900's.

8/ Irish people love alcohol and export a tonnes of alcohol that you probably drink!

9/ The country is split into 4 provinces, Munster (south), Connacht (west), Leinster (east, where Dublin is) and Ulster (north and most is owned my britain).

10/ Loads of the Irish emigrated worldwide hundreds of years ago due to a potatoe famine. Went to North America, central america, South America (loads in Argentina), and loads more.

11/ The Main religion is Catholic here, but to be honest nobody is really that religious at all, like you wouldn't find a religious fanatic here.

12/ Ireland is known for it's rolling hills and scenery, 'craic' and 'cead mile failte'.

13/ An Irish surname has a specific meaning and can be traced back to ancient Irish Clans, Kings etc...

Ok This info is so random, I could write more but i have to RUN to the bank now! ahhh it better not close.

hehe gues the question wasn't clear.....Oh the Cranberries yeah I remember...ZO-O-MBIE!! glad that people in Ireland also are repulsed by Bryan McFadden (spew)

I know people who are half Irish but in Australia backgrounds are so mixed! Serioulsy one of my friends has Italian, Irish, Arabic and British blood.! You're right I probably know dozens of Irish descended people, but it's rare to hear the cool Irish accent...I remember this lady at the chemist with the accent and I just love it. Ah the liquor...must therefore have a strong Irish connection I see ;D

Sounds like an interesting and fabulous place, your info has awakened my wanderlust...

Hope you got to the bank on time! I'm bored waiting for my new job to start next week so I'm typing up a storm on Hubpages.....Thx for your informative answer smile

I love the way the Irish say lads. When you order a drink among crowds, you'll always get asked 'same again'. I adore the ham sandwiches that come with proper baked thick slices of ham, no cheap processed stuff. I relish the thought of an Irish steak, fillet comes to mind.
I love the music and the race tracks. The craic is mighty and the fun is spread. And all that, well that's just in the airport!

The atmosphere in the pubs - music and all. Not to mention the scenery - camping on the cliff side.

I like Irish people. They are really nice and brave! Some of them are very mean, but I think mean is cool! big_smile
