Auckland to Wellington by road
Car drive from Wellington to Auckland and back.
I had an important business meeting in Auckland and I decided to drive from Wellington to Auckland instead flying.
Try this. One day just decide that you will drive instead of flying for your business meeting. You will have to sacrifice a day or 2 extra but it is worth it. It is relaxing and fun.
Photographs are not of very high quality as I have mostly shot while driving. Also, most of the scenes were good either to my left or right where it is difficult to shoot as the relative velocity perpendicular to the direction of travel is always higher and scenes are more stable when you look towards the direction of travel.
First little bit about Wellington. My home city!!!
First let me show you a few glimpses of my city Wellington.
Wellington is vibrant multi coltural city. Below, you can see Bungy jumping tower in the reflection. Kiwis are adventurous people and this Bungy Jumping Tower is located right in the middle of the city.
This is the view from Oriental Parade which is a long winding road along the sea shore.
Here we are at Queens Wharf which is also the part of main CBD area
No city can beat Wellington on a sunny day.
We have rather unusual but interesting public transport mode "Cable Car". It is the most innovative mode of transport for the hilly Wellington and it takes you from Kelburn Sky Line place down to CBD area in minutes
We have most beautiful sea shores
You will be amazed to see the work of our local artists
This is how Wellington looked like during super moon in May 2012.
I started at 10 AM from Wellington
I started at 10 in the morning but weather turned nasty.
But still it was manageable
You feel you are leaving Wellington as soon as you cross Kapiti Island.
Kapity is a beautiful coastal town at the outskirts of Wellington. It is a sleepy little town where you can relax on it sea shore and roam around in the town which has an old Victorian touch
Then Sun came out challenging the clouds
There is nothing better than driving on H1 when weather is good.
Meadows and Sheep.
You can not avoid sheep if you are driving in New Zealand. And I love them.
They look so cute.
By the way when we are talking about sheep.......
We love bunnies and have quite a few of them in our house. I came accross this video on youtube which was regarding sheep and a bunny. I just love this video. Sorry for going out of the contest of this lens but I could not stop myself in sharing this video with you. Hope you will enjoy it.

Weather again turned bad.
Once we reached Desert road, weather began to deteriorate.
Here comes elegant Mount Repahu. It looks so beautiful but has an almost live volcano in its belly. I wish weather would have been better! Somehow, I feel that Mount Repahu generates devine vibrations. It has some kind of a magnetic energy which mesmerizes me.
As soon as we crossed Desert road, weather improved.
It was great to see Sun back.
Drove down the mountains
Once I crossed Desert road, we drove down the hills crossing Wairu and Turangi. When you get the first glimpse of the lake, you know that you are quite close to Lake District of Taupo.
Finally in Taupo
Finally in Taupo. Decided to take 5 minute break. Taupo is a beautiful tourist town famous for its lake, Hukka fall and hot Geysers at Rotorua
Left Taupo for Hamilton
Weather was great and I left Taupo for Hamilton. Half of the journey was almost complete.
Church in Cambridge
Shot this beautiful Church in a small town of Cambridge.
As soon we left Cambrige.. Oh No.
This was the weather, when we left Cambridge. Decided to take a short cut and hence did not require to pass through Hamilton. Now I was getting tired and was in a hurry to reach Auckland.
I caught windy Wellington's wind speed distruction by my camera
It happened at my home.
Finally in Auckland
Finally I reached Auckland at 8:30. Dined in an Indian restaurant and slept as I had never slept before.
I attended the meeting the next day and heard on radio that weather in Wellington and specially on desert road is not good and lots of snow is expected in the night. I decided to try a different route. Instead of going through Taupo and desert road, I decided to return back via national park and Whangunui.
Lush green Waikato
Lush green Waikato. A farmer's delight. Reminds me of Punjab in India.
Reached Tarmmunai. A town left behind in time but thats why we say "100% pure New Zealand.
Captured this rainbow in my camera
I captured this beautiful rainbow in my camera as I was a about to enter national park. Not a good sign though. Hint of a bad weather ahead.
Entered Natioal Park
Not a soul to be seen. Driving alone in National park is a great experience.
Good bye National park
Bid adieu to National park in dirtiest possible weather.

2012 album from the enormously popular Swedish duo. While zigzagging between airports, arenas, hotels and meeting with fans from all over the world, the band also has found time to record the album Travelling. The idea has been to tap into all the positive energy that has boosted the band during this dazzling trip, and channel it to new Roxette music. In short, an album that just like 1992's Tourism captures the feeling of a band on a roll-constantly on the move, snatching inspiration as they go; recording in hotel rooms, studios, at soundchecks and in concert. The result is a fascinating musical postcard with 15 superb songs, most of which are new, some that are revisited classics and others being pearls that for various reasons hasn't seen the light of day before. News updates from Auckland.
Auckland is built on many volcanoes and recently scientists have found a forgotten volcano which is hardly 2kms from the city centre. This fact is established by a research by using a comprehensive computer modeling.
