Autumn in Mid Missouri

Updated on September 15, 2014

Fall Colors in the Country

On a beautiful fall day in mid October we took a ride out to the country to spend the day at a friend's farm. The weather was perfect for taking the photographs of the fall colors. It was a bit cloudy, which served to bring out the colors in the foliage.

We had a very dry summer in 2012 and there was much talk that the colors would not be bright this year. I was pleasantly surprised to find the colors to be gorgeous. The photo here is one I took of the hillside from a distance. You can see all of the different colors on the trees.

On this page, I will take you along through my photographs to explore the countryside in mid-Missouri.

Autumn Leaves on Country Lane

first view of farm

From the minute we turned up the lane to the farmhouse, I could tell it was going to be a gorgeous day. The weather was wonderful and the colors of the trees were outstanding. In this photo two bright yellow trees greet us as we drive up the lane.

Cardinal Forest Face - great outdoor decoration

When we drove up the lane to our friend's farm we were greeted with a Cardinal tree face. It was the first time I had encountered one of these forest faces and I made sure my husband stopped the car so I could take a photo.

I have since found out that these "forest faces" are available in a variety of styles.

Your autumn photos of Missouri are gorgeous. Like you, I had wondered if the dry summer would ruin the beauty of fall ... not so, thankfully. I love the mousepad with the lane to the farmhouse ... a welcoming bend.

As always, really beautiful photos! Sadly, it looks like our fall colors may be short-lived this year, but I do love the fall colors and I can still enjoy them here.
