DePalma's Italian Cafe

When most people think of Tuscaloosa Alabama, they think "football". Little do they know that there are actually several fine dining establishments located in this very famous college town. You just need to know where to look to find these hidden treasures.

So I have included three of the best kept secrets for fine dining so they will be easy to find when you find yourself there. They are not listed in any particular order, they all offer delectable cuisine as well as great service.

First we will visit DePalma's Italian Cafe located in the heart of historic downtown Tuscaloosa. It offers a comfortable, quirky yet very cool atmosphere for fine dining and you never know who you might run into!

They focus on fresh homemade pasta and unique sauces, all which makes for a good combination.

While their food and eclectic atmosphere makes them one of the fine dining picks for Tuscaloosa, their prices are relatively inexpensive.

They offer some of the best homemade pizza's in town along with a variety of pastas, salads, calzones and antipasta platters. They offer a very good quality wine list ( if you order a bottle, when you are done you get to sign it and they put it on the shelves lining the walls. There are hundreds of wine bottles!) and full bar along with their delicious Italian cuisine.

Definitely worth the time if you find yourself anywhere close to Tuscaloosa, take a little trip and enjoy some delicious Italian cuisine at DePalma's Italian Cafe.

Cypress Inn Restaurant

Next on our list of best kept secrets of fine dining, we find the Cypress Inn Restaurant . With the Cypress Inn you not only get the wonderful food, it also comes with a view.

They specialize in seafood but offer many other delicious entrees and they are located along the river side of the Black Warrior River.

The view of the river creates a very inviting and relaxing atmosphere as well as their overall southern hospitality.

While their seafood is wonderful, they also offer a very mouthwatering cut of steak and delicious pork chops.

Their rolls and tea really set the meal off and if you get the chance you should really try their fried green tomatoes.

The Cypress Inn Restaurant really does Tuscaloosa proud when it comes to good food and great atmosphere.

They are also reasonably priced, so you don't have to break the bank to eat good food!

Kozy's Restaurant and Courtyard

Okay, I had said I would not pick favorites but Kozy's Restaurant and Courtyard is possibly the best restaurant in Tuscaloosa. They are located in a charming old house that at first glimpse makes you wonder if you are even at the right place, but wait... once you go inside, you have entered another world, almost a step back in time.

With their extraordinary wine list, chef created fresh menu items and their very professional, but charming service, you realize you have arrived. Although some may find it a little pricey, all I can say is, "it is worth every penny."

They also offer courtyard dining which is as beautiful as it is romantic! Great place to celebrate or just to have a delicious, unforgettable meal. So if you find yourself in Tuscaloosa, Kozy's Restaurant and Courtyard are a must see. You may find it warrants return visits just for the experience!

      SimoneSmith,

Thanks for the shout out! Our oldest son just transferred to the University of Alabama this fall. We made several trips moving him down there so we got the opportunity to do some looking around. It is really a cool town with a lot more than just their awesome football team.
