Updated on July 23, 2013

One Resort, Two Islands and an Amazing Dives

This is an introduction to a beautiful island, resort and scuba diving vacation in Borneo. I won't mention which island this is, but I will be dropping clues along the way. When you are ready to know where this amazing island is, I will show you how to find it, and you will discover what the name is.

This is an island in North Borneo, in the Celebus Sea. A perfect island getaway, white sandy beach, coconut trees, surrounded by the sea and crystal clear waters. Suit up and explore the dive sites in clear turquoise waters, there are more than 30 sites you can explore. Dive Sites range from underwater slope and wall diving, coral reefs and be surround by schools of fishes.

The various marine life that lives in these waters are Barracudas, Spanish Mackerel, Eagle Ray, Giant Frogfish, Mandarin fishes, unique species of shrimps, giant Clams, varieties of Goby, and rare pygmy seahorses. The coral reefs are a paradise of underwater macro marine life.

If you time your scuba diving vacation right, you might see the gigantic Whale Sharks on their migration south. White Tip Reef Sharks, Leopard Sharks, Grey Reef Sharks, and occasionally, even Hammerhead Sharks can be seen on the dives. Experience hundreds of Barracudas whirling around you. You can also take photographs Green and Hawksbill Turtles.

If you visit Sabah during 30th and 31st May, make sure to join in the Harvest Festive at KDCA, Penampang. Entrance is free.

Before you fly off, take a look at Lok Kawi Wildlife Park and the wildlife found in Borneo.

The Reef Dive Resort

Off The Beaten Path, Near Sipadan Island

The diving is great. But for those who just enjoy bumming around on a beautiful tropical island, this is the spot for you. The resort adds a touch of luxury to your stay, with air-conditioning and attached bathrooms. Make sure to book their chalet, there are 8 of them, and choose one with a private sea view balcony.

The next best room is the Premier Deluxe, it has all the modern amenities you want, and a private little garden on the front porch. With the beach literally at your front door, you'll be undecided whether you should be indoors or outdoors.

The resort features an open air restaurant that serves fresh seafood, Asian and Continental cooking, presented in a buffet style. There is a bar should you want to chill out there at night. What about a library, satellite television or wireless broadband? Or a night trek?

The Jamu Spa

There is even a Spa on the island. It offers traditional relaxation and beauty treatment called Jamu, which is the local term traditional treatment for health and beauty. This consists of relaxing and sensual body massages using aromatic oils and herbal ingredients.

Close your eyes and imagine the sound of splashing waves, the tranquility in an tropical island far away, and the scent of tropical floral floating through the warm air.

The best time to visit this island resort and for a scuba diving vacation is from April to November.

Where To Stay In Sabah

One thing that makes your travels easy is when you don't have to worry about where to stay. Sabah has many world class resorts and hotels, many located along great stretch of beaches. Karambunai Resort, Sutera Harbour, Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort are all well-known internationally and well visited.

You can choose to stay in the city or choose from one of the many hotels and resorts just outside the city. You will be well taken care of.

Looking for a nice hotel but want to keep within your budget, from 3 stars to 1 star hotels are readily available. English is widely spoken, so you should set your mind at ease. Although, I have to say that the local accent might take some getting used to.

Typically, a 3 to 4 star hotel will cost about US$100. 1 to 2 star hotels cost about US$50 per night.

For even more budget friendly accommodations, Backpacker lodges and Homestays are also available at http://hotel.aboutsabah.com.

Sabah is an easy place to travel around, it isn't huge like some cities, and there are only 3 main exits out of the city. The thing that makes Sabah truly easy to travel is the friendly people here. All you got to do is ask, and many will go out of their way to help.

Visit www.AboutSabah.com for more fabulous Hotels and Resorts to find out more about this wonderful place.
