Botany Bay Car Boot Sale

Updated on September 3, 2014

The Botany Bay car boot sale is a popular Sunday morning pastime during the summer months. Located just off junction 8 M61 signposted Chorley, it lies adjacent to the famous Botany Bay shopping area.

It's a large, well run market with good access from Chorley, Preston and surrounding areas and attracts visitors from all over the North West.

Busy Sunday At Botany Bay

Also known as Elaines car boot sale, it attracts a large number of buyers and sellers whenever the weather is kind to them. During the wetter weekends attendance drops as you would imagine.

However, the site is relatively well maintained and good drainage means that it is pleasant even after a few days rain.

As with many car boots these days, there's a mixture of professional traders and amateur enthusiasts selling everything from antique furniture to fruit & veg!

Profit From Car Boot Sales

Fiona Shoop is a keen car booter and the presenter of Car Boot Sale Challenge. In How To Profit From Car Boot Sales she shares her expertise on how both buyers and sellers can get the most from car boots.

Fiona has also featured as a consultant on many antiques television programmes where the goods were sold at car boot sales, including Life Laundry and helped the contributors to make as much money and sell as many goods as possible.

She also practices what she preaches and buys and sells at car boot sales in her spare time.

So whether you are planning to clear the house or buy and sell at car boot sales to make some extra cash, Fiona's tips will help make it easier, more profitable and even more fun.

Refreshments

There is a 'chuck wagon' on site that offers all the usual burgers, hot dogs, bacon & eggs and snacks as well as tea and coffee. When the weather is dry and warm there is often an ice cream van.

The other essential amenities are located near the entrance.

When the Botany Bay market is cancelled due to bad weather it appears that many of the traders head over to Burscough Car Boot adjacent to the A59.
