Camping Activities for Adults

Updated on May 19, 2010

Finding camping activities for adults may not be as easy as it seems, so you'll want to compile a list before the all of you actually go camping. One too many times, I have found myself just talking with other family members while eating. There is so many different things you could do for fun with friends and the family. Here are just a few ideas to get you started.

Go Canoeing

Canoeing is a fun and popular sport amongst most campers. Go ahead and drag your canoe to the lake shore while you let the others carry the drinks. This is the perfect time for setting your tents on shore and spending a lazy afternoon here. Some camps let you start barbeques so check with your camps rules before doing so. Be sure to bring some goodies in the cooler as well.

Backpack Hiking

Gather up all your gear and get hiking! Make sure you dress casual and cool, depending on how the weather is. Essential gear consists of water for dehydration, extra set of clothes, backpacks, and food packs. After this trip, you're sure to become exhausted so get plenty of rest before setting out. A perfect time would be backpack hiking in the early mornings.

Twister or a card game, anyone?

I know this may sound weird, but why not bring your Twister matt! I know the ground is bumpy - but you can always bring your mattress for playing twister. This is a great way to get close, or intertwine with the family. Also, playing a tournament of cards is another alternative to playing at home. Drink a few cold ones and settle down for some fun with the whole group.
