Driving Directions To Port Canaveral

Do you need to know how to get to Port Canaveral for your next cruise? You've come to the right place. We've got driving directions to Port Canaveral from Orlando International Airport and for approaching from the north and south. If you've never cruised out of Port Canaveral, you're going to love it. The community is smaller and the traffic is much easier. You'll find excellent signs that show you where to go and the employees we've approached for additional information seem much friendlier than some other ports. Disney Cruise Line has a gorgeous terminal at Port Canaveral, making your arrival a breeze. Carnival and Royal Caribbean both have beautiful ships that depart regularly from Port Canaveral, making this quite the up-and-coming port. Bon Voyage!

Car Rental Locations Near Port Canaveral

Your cruise line will have transfers available for an extra fee but you may find it cheaper or more convenient to rent a car. Cape Canaveral isn't a big city and doesn't have offices for every car rental company. Here's information about car rental companies with drop-off locations near Port Canaveral.

TIP #1: Drop off your baggage (except carry-on) items at the cruise terminal before turning in your car so that you don't have to lug your luggage onto the shuttle van. Be sure you have your passports and other ID with you.

TIP #2: Allow plenty of time to turn in your car because the shuttle vans to the port may run on a set departure schedule and you may have a bit of a wait.

TIP #3: If you don't want to use the rental company shuttle, taking a taxi cab from the rental office to the port will cost about $15.

TIP #4: Really read the estimated total cost for your car rental - some companies may have a cheaper daily rate but then tack on a significant "one way" or "drop off" charge.

  • Budget: Budge has the closest office to Port Canaveral. You can pick-up your can on-site at Orlando International Airport (MCO) and drop it off at Cape Canaveral (Location code CC5). Budget offers a free shuttle service between its office and the port.
  • Avis: You can pick-up your can on-site at Orlando International Airport (MCO) and drop it off at Cape Canaveral (Location code P3F). Avis offers a free shuttle service between its office and the port. The Cape Canaveral location is small and they have a reputation for being somewhat disorganized but they were fine when we used them for our last cruise.
  • Thrifty: You can pick-up your can on-site at Orlando International Airport (MCO) and drop it off at Cape Canaveral (Location code MU2). Thrifty offers a free shuttle service between its office and the port. Thrifty often charges a one-way drop-off fee so check your total price to make sure you're getting the best deal.
  • Hertz: Hertz has an office in Cape Canaveral (Location code HLE) but their Orlando Airport location is off-site, making it less convenient than some of the other rental companies. Hertz has free shuttle service between its Cape Canaveral Location and the cruise port.
