Dutch Wonderland

Updated on December 23, 2012

Dutch Wonderland is a Kingdom for Kids!

Dutch Wonderland is a jewel of a theme park located in Lancaster County, PA. I grew up going to Dutch Wonderland, and I have been taking my own children there for the past 12 years. This park is a treasure and will delight children and adults alike. The park is perfect for the younger crowd, but there is enough excitement for my 14 year old too. It is a perfect place to spend a summer day. Dutch Wonderland includes Duke's Lagoon--a splash park and the regular rides and show areas. There is a classic old wooden roller coaster, a diving show, great food, a variety of rides for tiny tots to older kids, and more.

Rides to please everyone!

There are 24 family fun rides and 10 rides just for little kids 36 inches and under. There is an awesome wooden rollercoaster and a log flume. Our favorites include the train, the antique cars, the bumper cars, the roller coasters, and the old fashioned water wheel boat. My littlest ones love the Choo Choo Charlie train ride where they engineer their own personal train. There are relaxing rides (like the sky ride and monorail) and exciting rides (like the roller coaster and the joust).

Duke's Lagoon

The Water Area

Duke's Lagoon is a section of Dutch Wonderland where you can have fun and beat the heat with water fun! There are water jets streaming upward, kid size water slides, a multi-level water play area and tipping coconuts full of water. There is plenty of seating for parents or grandparents (out of the water). Swim suits can be worn and there are changing areas right by Duke's Lagoon. There are also cabanas you can rent for your time at Duke's Lagoon. This is a great way to cool down on a hot summer's day!

Our family loves Dutch Wonderland. I've been to a lot of amusement/theme parks and Dutch Wonderland is the most family friendly one.

I haven't been there in years, but oddly enough we visited Amish country in May and stayed in a motel right down the street!

I've been going to Dutch Wonderland since I was a little guy. I really like it. My favorite rides are the Twister, the Joust, and the Voyager.

The only way that we visit Dutch Wonderland is with free summer reading program tickets through the Lancaster County libraries. Ticket prices have gotten so expensive that it makes it almost impossible for larger families to afford. We much prefer Knoebels amusement park in Ellysburg, PA. We camp there for 2 nights and spend 2 days in the park and still end up spending less than we would at Dutch Wonderland.
