Leaf peepers take to the scenic New England routes to see the beautiful colors of the autumn season each year. If you've ever visited New England in the fall, you'd understand the attraction of the regions fall foliage. Blazing reds, deep purples and rich gold leaves highlight the treetops and cover the landscape in a blanket of natural beauty. Fall Foliage New England Schedule and Forecast

Though Mother Nature has her own schedule, knowing when the leaves are expected to reach their peak autumn colors is helpful. Factors that change the colors of the leaves include temperature and rain. In general, the peak New England fall foliage begins early in the northers states. Scenic Roadways: Rhode Island Fall Foliage Map

This map is a favorite route for bikers looking to enjoy the beautiful Rhode Island fall colors. According to the Rhode Island Department of Transportation, other scenic routes and hot spots for leaf peepers include Rhannock Road, Ministerial Road (Route 110), Veterans Memorial Parkway between Second Street and Route 103 in East Providence, Paradise Avenue, Wyatt Road, Wapping Road, and Hanging Rock Road in Middletown. Also check out the scenery at Sachuest Point on the Sakonnet River's entrance. See also Breakneck Hill Road (Route 123), Route 102, Route 1 and Route 114.

Visit New England's tourism site recommends specific routes and directions for those seeking to see the beautiful fall foliage. If you're looking for the best routes for leaf peeping during the peak New Hampshire fall foliage season, the best drives are said to be in the Dartmouth-Sunapee Region, the Great North Woods, the Lakes Region, Merrimack Valley, Monadnock Region, the Seacost Region and the White Mountains.

Massachusetts fall foliage routes include Route 2 (Mohawk Trail) in Western Massachusetts, heading to the Berkshire mountains. Route 20 from Boston to Central Massachusetts, to New York is another great route. Route 7 to the Berkshires is a popular route in October. Other hot spots for leaf peeping include the Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, Waiden Pond in Concord, Wachusett Mountain north of Worcester in eastern Massachusetts and of course, the Berkshire mountains.

They say the best scenic routes for seeing Vermont fall foliage is just about everywhere. According to VermontFallFoliage.com, Route 100 and Route 30 are beautiful in the fall.       When I moved out west I messed the fall colors AND the smell of fallen leaves. Now that I am back in Connecticut I love taking a week off in early Fall to go camping. thanks for this lens, I hope it inspires a lot of people

      Ah yes you do get to see Mother Nature changing colors before most of us down south and west of you. I call it God's Blanket for the Earth for the plants to be warm for the winter. You have a beautiful lens here and I love those covered bridges.

      I consider myself very lucky to live in the northern White Mountains of NH! Even though we go south for the winter, we stay through foliage - the beauty is just so breathtaking. I love looking out my front door to the stunning views of Mounts Madison and Adams, and in the fall, it's even more gorgeous! :)

      The foliage from New Hampshire to Connecticut is done for this season - and poor Vermont had so many roads and bridges out that it was difficult for many to follow time tested peeping routes. Next year will come soon enough though :)

      Your videos were gorgeous; I love seeing the splendor of fall foliage reflected in water. We have a lot of lakes and streams in Arkansas and also have gorgeous fall colors. They are so magnificent when seen in reflections! Congratulations on LOTD.
