Nor Cal beaches, none in particular. They're incredibly awesome and beautiful in a stark, lonely kind of way. Maybe not for everyone, but definitely for me.
There is a private beach club in Palos Verdes, California - at least there was in the late 60's. My friends and I snuck in there once through a huge underground storm drain. It came out on this little private beach with the ruins of an old house and cliffs on all sides. It was beautiful.
We got caught and sent home though and never went back. But it was an adventure and the beach was absolutely beautiful.
My favorite is the North Shore on Oahu in Hawaii. The waves are large and beautiful. People don't swim very often there because of the waves. You will see a surfer here or there but other than that, it's just big, beautiful waves crashing in.
The second favorite is Gulf Shores, Alabama. My hubby is from Alabama so I get to see that one quite often.
one of my favorites is about 40 minutes from my town where i live. i'm not even sure if it has a name but it is beautiful. it's along highway 17, north west of sault ste. marie ontario.

I don't like wearing them, and I don't like shopping for them. If only the world were conducive to barefoot living.

What's your favorite thing to do at the beach? In my recent hub about the health benefits of the beach, I realized that there are so many things to do at the beach that I haven't done in years, and most shockingly of all, a lot of them, like burrying yourself in sand, catually have health benefits!...
