Pendleton SC Shined for the Fox Carolina Town Takeover

Seven O'clock in the morning is mighty early to expect an enthusiastic crowd but that is exactly what Fox Carolina got when they came to Pendleton SC on November 11, 2010 for the Fox Carolina Town Takeover. The weather was perfect and excitement filled the air as the crowd gathered carrying signs supporting their school or organization and most importantly, our Veterans. It was a day for Pendleton to shine live before a TV audience and shine we did!Fox Carolina's Town Takeover Series has been a big hit as they choose different towns to be the site of their early Thursday morning show. Toccoa, Georgia was the one before Pendleton and Spartanburg, SC will be the next one. Co-Anchors Margaret Burnquist and Cody Alcorn make the Town Takeover so much fun for everyone!Special thanks to everyone who shared their pictures for this page.It sure would be fun for Fox Carolina to return to Pendleton! I sure hope they will!

"I was so impressed by the Pendleton pride I saw and the warmth of the people I met. You have a truly wonderful community and I think that's exactly what came across on tv!Thanks for a fantastic Takeover!"

— Margaret Burnquist, Fox Carolina Morning Anchor

Cody enjoyed riding around on a Segway - Now, I think that is a great way to travel

I am not sure this is one like the one that Cody was riding but it is similar. I think the one he was riding belonged to Subway but I am not sure. All I know is that he was having a grand time with it and it sure looked like fun! I had never seen one and thought I would like to have one, too.

It was only fitting that these two were recognized on Veterans Day. Faye Ladd is the President of American Legion Post 113 in Pendleton and Sgt Major (Ret) Don Brewer is a Veteran of the Viet Nam War and Desert Storm. These two have spent numerous hours on our Freedom Fest held at Veterans Park the Saturday before July 4th.

Pendleton School Students Proudly Hold Up Signs

All Schools had a late Tardy Bell on Nov 11

Isn't it great that the young folks have pride in their town and pride in their school and their park! Many students were given posters at school and made signs to hold up. Some even made signs asking for support of our Step Up To The Plate Fundraising Campaign for our Veterans Park. There were also signs thanking our Veterans that were made by the students.

Please take part in this poll. Thanks

The Fox Carolina Town Takeover in Pendleton made me proud to be an American and proud to be from Pendleton, South Carolina!I was not alone in this feeling. That is for sure!Special Thanks to Jean Vegod and Susann Griffin for their part in getting Fox Carolina to Pendleton!

Pendleton's Town Takeover brought me back to my small town roots. You can't beat that small town charisma and southern generosity! In my opinon it was one of our best town takeovers of 2010! By the way..hats off to '1826 On The Green' and the 'Village Baker!'Cody Alcorn,Fox Carolina Morning Anchor

I was so sorry to have to miss the festivities--but had a previous date to pick up someone in Anderson who was getting some outpatient surgery at the Health Campus and needed to check in there at 8. One of my walking buddies went, and she had a great time. Thank you for letting me experience it through your squidoo, Ohme.

Nancy, thanks so much for this lens. It makes me homesick but I love seeing a Pendleton Lens. Looks like so much fun. Someone tried to teach me that dance a few months ago. It is harder than it looks! LOL Wish PHS had had a chorus when I was in school...they are really good. Everyone looked like they were having so much fun!
