Stones Corner was the shopping centre of Brisbane in times gone by. It was a collection of small stores on the corner of Logan and Old Cleveland Roads which were a major intersection on the South side of Brisbane. Now days people prefer to shop in large air conditioned shopping centres so the people have slowly dwindled away from shopping at Stones Corner. The fashion retailers have also moved their shops to the big discount shopping centres such as DFO near Brisbane air port.

Stones corner isn't completely devoid of life though. It has changed into more of a meeting place with coffee shops. It still has a range of fashion retailers and it is still a great place to pick up a fashionable bargain.

Solar Lighting in Parks

Some of the parks in Greenslopes use solar lighting. This would be a great idea as the majority of parks with solar lighting get flooded with heavy rain.

The only problem has been the "bright sparks" who designed the lights put important components in the base of the light poles. So when it floods major damage is done to the lighting systems.

The Brisbane City Council is reportedly working on fixing the flooding problem with the lighting.

Rain,Wind and Flood damage January 2013

The Low Depression left by Tropical Cyclone Oswald dumped a massive amount of water on Queensland. Together with the high winds it caused quite a bit of damage. Greenslopes suffered some flooding and many trees were blown over. Here are some pictures of Greenslopes after the floods.

those recent floods and winds took tiles off my roof. Heaps of damage, but not as bad as some. Greenslopes really copped alot of the winds.
