SOME SECURITY ADVICES WHEN VISITING GUAYAQUIL
Because, danger is everywhere...
Danger is everywhere. Tourism would be fantastic if it did not exist, but unfortunately it does. Take into consideration the following advices before coming. If you keep them with you, surely you will increase your security into an 95%.
ADVICE # 1
BE CAREFUL WITH TAXIS
Crime is always looking for the way to get to people and taxies have given robbers and kidnappers a useful tool to achieve their filthy goals. DON-T TAKE ANY TAXI YOU FIND AT THE DOORS OF THE AIRPORT. ASK THE AIRPORT TO GIVE YOU THE NUMBER OF A SAFE TAXI COMPANY. THEY WILL SURELY HELP YOU. IF YOU HAVE A FRIEND, WAIT FOR HIM INSIDE OF THE AIRPORT. CRIMINALS HERE, SMELL WHO IS A FOREIGNER. SOMETIMES A BUS IS SAFETIER THAN A TAXI. So when you get familiarized, take metro via or buses.
ADVICE # 2
BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR CREDIT CARDS
DON-T TRUST ANY PERSON TO TAKE YOUR CREDIT CARD. PAY THE THINGS YOU BUY PREFERABLY ON CASH.
ADVICE # 3
DON-T STAY OUT SO LATE AT NIGHT
Criminals act in the dark, so if you go out in the early morning, ask a friend to take you home or call your secure taxi.
ADVICE # 4
IF YOU ARE ROBBED, DON'T PUT RESISTANCE
Always keep with you some dollars for that criminal, he will take your wallet and go, if you put resistance you can get killed. Your life costs much more than money.
MALECON 2000 - Malls, restaurants, arts, history, trees, culture, a river that represents Guayaquil...
"Ready to walk 2.5 kilometers, with my camera", this is what Nadia Stern told me the first time she visited Malecon 2000.
Divided into three sections, Malecon 2000 knows how to welcome foreigners. Once you are here, you will not want to go other place in Guayaquil.
The perfect place for a date, according to Guayaquil statistics, it is without a doubt a complete place. Restaurants, cafes, shopping places, a big garden, ducks, endemic animals, benches with a view to the big river Guayas, parks, a long way to walk, and even a Lighthouse placed in our Santa Ana hill. This is maybe a short summary of what you will see in this emblematic point of the city.
SECTION # 1
Restaurants, a park with a gymnastics section, trees and a unique biodiversity filled with birds, the lighthouse, this is what you will find in section 1. Maybe you will need a day to explore it all.
Oh, i forget to mention IMAX cinema, the first of Southamerica. It is a high definition cinema that will make you feel a part of the movie.
SECTION # 2
Sculptures, La rotonda, artist painting a feeling of their own, and a space to watch the river, await for any visitor. This is called also the center part of the malecon.
SECTION # 3
A mall where you can go shopping, historical monuments of the city, and a Crystal palace where paintings of famous artists such as Rembrandt and Picasso have been presented. This is section number three of Malecon 2000.
