HOLIDAY IN PANGKOR ISLAND MALAYSIA

Updated on March 23, 2015

Pangkor Island Malaysia

Pangkor Island is one of the most beautiful islands you can find in Malaysia. My family and I had the chance to go there last week on our holiday. Pangkor Island is situated on the west coast of Perak Malaysia. We stayed at Sea View Hotel and Resort which is in Pasir Bogak. It is actually one of the best beaches in Pangkor Island. There are many hotels and resorts on the island from budget hotels and chalets to the most expensive hotels you can find.

There are also many activities you can do on the island such as jungle trekking, fishing, bird watching, water sports - banana boating, jet ski, canoe and snorkeling. If you are at Pasir Bogak in the morning, you can watch hornbills and will get a chance to feed them. You can watch the sunset in the evening.

We went for a tour around the island right after we reached there. We visited a Dutch fort which was built in the 17th century,Pangkor town, fishing villages and fish satay factory. After checked in at the resort,we went for a walk along the beach and watched sunset on the beach.

On our second day there we spent most of our time doing water activities like jet skiing, boating, canoeing and snorkelling. After all those tiring activities we spent our evening at the resort. It was an amazing experience we had on the Pangkor Island and it really is the perfect vacation getaway.

How To Get There

The island is about ten minutes ferry ride from the mainland,Lumut where you will disembark at Pangkor Village. Most of the villagers are fishermen. From there you can take a taxi or van service to the resorts. Or you can walk or cycle or ride a motorcycle and spend your time exploring the Pangkor Island before check in at a resort.

There are many resorts you can choose all around the island which offer you more than just the sun and the sea. All resorts have their own facilities and activities include boating, canoe, sailing, fishing, trekking, and other water sports.

Nipah Bay or Teluk Nipah is a famous and busiest spot for holiday makers with its beautiful beach, variety of fish and lots of corals in the water and many restaurants and bars serve delicious cuisine which specialize in fresh seafood.

Pasir Bogak is another interesting place on the Pangkor Island which is a private beach with its golden brown sand, and the best spot to view beautiful sunset on this island.

It looks wonderful here. I spent 5 days in Penang back in 1988 and would love to go back. Malaysia is a lovely country, and I love the food.
