It's a Burl - Must see places in Oregon
It's a Burl in Kerby, OR
I think as you look through the pictures below you will understand why it is on my "Must See List" for travel in Oregon!
Burlwood's are often described as exotic woods due to their distinctive marking. The woods they use are Black Oak, Black Walnut, Buckeye, Madrone, Manzanita, Maple, Myrtle, Olive, and Redwood.
I believe they told us there are ten craftsman creating these pieces now.
From Tricycles to very unique chairs, each one absolutely unique and handcrafted entirely of this Burlwood.
Tricycle made from Burl Wood - The details in this trike are amazing
I loved this little tricycle, isn't it just adorable. I almost believe you could ride it!
Beautiful hand carved pieces
These next two are hand carved.
A gorgeous carousel horse, that just sits on the porch...how inviting it must be to children.
I love the hand carved old man with the sign that says "Oh Wow", because that is exactly what you say when you walk into the door of their shops. "Oh wow, look at that"...."Oh Wow, isn't that gorgeous!"

Do you like to Rock?
Rocking horses and Rocking chairs made of burls
Below is an example of a Rocking Chair and a Rocking Horse made entirely out of Burlwood. It is just amazing how they find each perfect piece to make these.
It makes you wonder, do they have something in mind when they sit down to create, or does the wood "speak" to them and invite them on their creative path?
I love to stop here on my way to Medford.

Now travel outside...
If you can talk yourself into leaving the shops, then take a walk around the entire grounds.
They allow you to watch them work, or explore the treehouses, with their cozy little swings below.
