Nanaimo's Spectacular Spring Colours
Nanaimo Explodes into Colour!
Canadians love their seasons in a way that folks further south just won't understand. There are even places in California that don't have any seasons :-)
Vancouver Island, however, is a Lady that changes her dress as often as she can, and her Spring and Fall wardrobes are spectacularly beautiful.
Nanaimo sits on the east coast of Vancouver Island, facing the lower mainland and Vancouver across 30 miles of ocean. The weather has been quite mild for the past 25 years (I'm trying to forget last winter!), and we've become accustomed to a riotous display of colour every Spring, as these photographs attest.
Beban Park Rhododendron
A young Rhododendron peeks out from a nest of shrubbery that almost completely obscures it from view in Nanaimo's Beban Park complex.
A Magnificent Weeping Cherry
This gorgeous tree takes my breath away. (I liked it so much I planted one in my front yard.

Did I Say "Shrub?"
The Oxydenron Arboreum can also attain tree proportions, as this example from my Nanaimo's Spectacular Fall Finery website.

This gorgeous Magnolia is just around the corner from my Nanaimo home. It's one of three on the street.
