New York City Summer Vacation

Updated on September 27, 2014

I know there are millions of pics on the internet of New York City. So to some of you this is probably a pretty boring page, but I had to share anyway. It was such an amazing experience!

In the 14 years I lived on Long Island, I never went to see Times Square, The Statue of Liberty, The Empire State building or any of the city's landmarks.

On this lens I have tons of photos from the trip. Hope you enjoy!

Considering it was the last game before the All Star break, my husband decided to get a room close to Shea Stadium. I also wanted to see Shea for one last time before it was torn down. We did visit shortly, however we did not end up seeing the game, but that's another subject.

We also found it was also MUCH less expensive than staying in Manhattan. We just took the train in everyday.

There was lots to see from the train. I being an artist was blown away by the graffiti. Entire buildings covered in it.

Times Square

When we visited Times Square, I took literally hundreds of photos. I just added a few below, otherwise this page would be way too long. I really should have made a separate lens just for Times Square.

I "think" the image on the right was taken from the window at Applebees.

I really want to visit NYC again, it's been about five years. Last time I went, Little Italy was having the Feast of San Genarro Festival, as it always does in September (probably right around now, actually). Blessed!

      Dear Michelle,

My most heartfelt thanks to you for featuring the link to my lens within yours. The spirit of NY is alive and well. I am so very proud to have American friends, I am lucky to know so many kind, good-hearted people like you - oh and your mom too. You are a very gifted young woman and I love your ability to tell a story, both with video and your artwork.

      Take good care,

      Rose

I have not (yet) been to New York, however a dear friend of mine who worked in the financial sector invited me many times. Our lives were so busy back then (in the late 90's). After 9/11 she flew back to South Africa to live with her parents. I am soooo glad to see that New York has rebuilt and the spirit is alive and well (evident in your photos and videos). Thanks for sharing your work. Sincerely, Rose
