Noosa Heads - Noosa Beach and surrounds on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland

Updated on June 8, 2013

Noosa Heads is about 130 klms from Brisbane and is situated on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. It is famous for its surf beaches. Noosa Heads is an integral part of the Noosa Biosphere, one of the world's biosphere reserves. Noosa is bounded by the Noosa National Park and the Noosa River. Noosaville is situated behind. Noosa is the gateway to the Everglades, Colored Sands of Cooloola and the superb Sunshine Coast Hinterland which overlooks the coastal strip from Fraser Island to Caloundra.

What we like about Noosa Heads

We have frequently taken a day trip from Brisbane to Noosa (1 1/2 hours drive). Our sons loved surfing in the big waves and we enjoyed the shopping, restaurants, swimming and walking in the Noosa National Park.

Often when we stayed at Mooloolaba on a weeks' holiday, we would take the half hour drive to Noosa to spend a day there.

Occasionally, my wife and I have escaped to Noosa for a quiet break when our sons were staying with their cousins at another beach.
