Updated on January 14, 2011

Things to do in Orleans, Photos, Videos and More About this Cape Cod Town

Orleans, MA is one of Cape Cod's best beach towns. You can find the beautiful Nauset Beach, which you can see a photo of on the left, as well as the serene Cape Cod Bay destination of Rock Harbor. Orleans is home of the first Trans-Atlantic cable, and is one of the few spots in the United States that has been under attack since the War of 1812. Orleans is the town furthest east of all Massachusetts towns, and borders the towns of Chatham, Brewster, and Eastham. It is also contains a large part of the Cape Cod National Seashore. On this page, you can find fun things to do in Orleans, photos, videos, and more about this favorite Cape Cod beach town. Nauset Beach photo by kesta on flickr.

Nauset Beach remains one of Cape Cod's most popular beaches. Known for its large waves and easy accessibility, Nauset Beach has great views of the open, cool Atlantic waters. On site, you can find a snack bar serving burgers, fries, and fried onion rings. A mere $15 will allow you to stay all day at the beach.

Orleans was one of the few towns in America to be attacked during World War I. On July 21, 1918, German u-boats off the coast of Orleans shelled the town and sunk the tugboat Perth Amboy. The u-boat successfully fled afterwards.

@NausetViews: Some of the best beaches on the Cape! We just stayed down in Orleans last year, but on the Bay side. I've been to Nauset a few times, but never for a full day at the beach. That's a bucket list item for me.

Spent my summers in Orleans. It's my favorite place in the world (as you can see by my Squidoo Name)

I grew up on Cape Cod during my summers! Parents still rent a place every year. We always stayed in Orleans (except a few times we stayed at a friens place in Chatham). I absolutely love it there. Thank you for this lens.

I've never been to Orleans, but when I was young girl (many years ago, lol) I had a pen pal who lived in Orleans, so I've always wanted to see it. Nicely done lens.
