Outer Banks, North Carolina facts

The Outer Banks of North Carolina (OBX) is a 200 mile string of islands located off the NC coast. Wright Memorial Bridge connects the Currituck Mainland to Southern Shores, and it is the bridge most New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia visitors use to get to the Outer Banks. For travelers arriving from the West, there's the new Virginia Dare Memorial Bridge that connects the mainland to Nags Head - Manteo Causeway or William B. Umstead Bridge (locally known as "Manns Harbor Bridge") for Roanoke Island visitors. Outer Banks is a very popular travel destination that attracts millions of visitors per year, with most visitors traveling between Memorial and Labor Day. With the variety of accommodations Outer Banks has to offer, fun family attractions, and beautiful beaches and wild life, Outer Banks is also a popular wedding and family reunion destination.

What an amazing place. I'd never heard of it till now. Needs to be the subject of a travel documentary so folks like me in the UK can learn more.

This looks like a great place to visit. At this time of year, Canadians are always looking for a warmer place!

I think I would most enjoy walking on a beach, but seeing that house, above, would be grand as I really like old buildings.

It's been a while, but I have been there a couple of times. Such a lovely place, but I would worry about the hurricanes finding me there.

No I haven't but after reading this lens I'd really like to. Miniature golf and Aquarium do sound like something my family and I would enjoy.

This is on my list! I live in Asheville and never make the 5 hour trip to the coast, but I will some day! My next trip is the BR Parkway from Asheville to its end in VA. I'll be sure to write that one up! Thanks for liking my flowers. You might enjoy my National Parks Lens, too.

Only once, but it was one of our most memorable vacations. Loved the uncrowded shores the most. Loved the sand spurs the least. :D

Travel lenses are my favorites...and this was a fun trip, thanks. I voted for Kill Devel Hills in the poll because I'm familiar with the spot, not because I've been there. I would love to visit.
