Photos I Snapped Home And Abroad
In 1985 I went on at tour with university students, I was a little older but the tour to Europe was phenomenal . We landed in Amsterdam Airport early in the morning , it was still dark out side and cold actually freezing - 8 degrees, my niece who went with me was wearing shorts and she was freezing, she went to the change room to change to warmer clothes. She took her time and when we got back to the airport hall we saw the last of our tour group going out of the door on the far side .
I ran and when I went outside it was dark and I saw a lot of buses and none of our tour members. I consoled my niece and we proceeded to the reception and told them our tour party left us and if they realize they have left us and call, to let us know.
The tour went on a barge trip and then when the baggage was off loaded at the hotel, two suite cases were not claimed .
The tour leaders realised they had lost two passengers, they called the airport reception and the reception called us and I spoke to one of the tour leaders and he told us to take a bus and meet him at the International bus stop in Amsterdam.
Due to this incident everybody had to check who is sitting in front and behind you in the bus.
Photos taken at various places I have traveled to, Britain, Nederland, France, Austria, Italy , Greece, Hong Kong, Thailand, Mauritius .

We arrived in London just before Christmas and we did have a few cold showers and a bit of fine snow. What I enjoyed was the pub crawl and the hot toddies, when you crawled back into the hotel lounge and a hot fire in the fireplace greeted you.

Greece And The Epidauros
There is to much to tell, about Greece but the goats milk ice cream is delicious and I liked the white painted houses, and and the olives .
We also visited an old Amphitheatre in Greece. it was built like a radio speaker cut in half .The small part in the middle was the stage and the upper and outer the audience seats. The tour leader demonstrated the fantastic acoustics of the ampitheatre by standing on the stage and dropping a piece of paper. We sat on the seats at the top and could hear the sound the piece of paper made when it touched the floor.
The video below is about the Amphitheatre.
Glass Blowing In Italy Venice
Gondolas In Venice And Glass Making
This photo was taken behind our hotel, the gondolas parked like cars. All the muck goes into the canals, and as the tide rises and goes down again it takes all the rubbish out to sea.
On our first afternoon after arrival we went to a small glass making shop, and they showed us how to make a horse, the next day we were taken to a bigger glass making shop. The glass maker was going to show us how beginners start to make glass ornaments and asked us what he was going to make, everyone shouted, A HORSE ! .

Palace Hohenschwangau In Austria
This unfinished Palace, Hohenschwangau stands above a small lake. It was built and designed by a prince. Somebody who did not like him managed to get the prince declared insane. before the Palace was completed the prince was found dead in a ditch .It has beautiful mosaic floors and an interior heating system where the heat comes into the rooms through grates in the floors.
Hong Kong was also a great visit. Early in the morning at break fast the cook demonstrated how to make pasta by folding the dough double and then slinging it round and round between two hands . This was repeated numerous times until thin strands of dough was made.
The streets are still busy early in the morning, people still selling food and their products on the sidewalk.

There is a story that after some war they were transporting a statue made of clay . Someone accidentally bumped into it, the clay cracked off revealing the gold glinting behind the clay During the war it was covered with clay to prevent the enemy from discovering it.
The streets are kept very clean and on entering any temple shoes are removed before entering.
Do not spit in the street and stay away from drugs and out of jail
.You can have a photo taken with the girls at the temples but, In order to have your photo taken you must first put some coins in a donation box.

Speed Boats In Bankok
We took a cruise up the river. On the side of the river were stalls where you can buy clothing and gifts.
The photo above shows the types of boats used. A normal 4 cylinder car engine and gear box is used. A long shaft is connected to the gearbox and at the other end is the propeller. The engine is secured at the back end of the boat and in such a way that it can be tilted to lift the propeller out of the water.
Pattaya In Thailand
On this tour we traveled down Thailand 147 kilo meters from Bangkok to a small town on the coast Pattaya. The sea is beautiful emerald green with a lot of corral. The temperature is about 44 degrees and it was best to wear cotton clothing.
Pattaya is always switched on and fun. From sunrise to sunset, Pattaya’s beaches are constantly brimming with life, as water sports lovers, Jet Skiers and sun bathers take to the beautiful emerald green waters.
Pattya Night Life And Strippers

Mauritius has lovely sunny weather however you could be sitting on the sunny beach and all of a sudden rain would pour down on you , but before you can run for shelter it stops and the little cloud has passed by.
Mauritius is a volcanic island with emerald green water and lots of smaller islands around it. Fishermen wade into the sea at certain places for a kilometer or more to catch fish .
Mauritius was the home of the extinct Dodo bird , in the early centuries the sailors who stopped there caught the birds for food because the Dodo could not fly.
The whole Island is planted with sugar cane with winding roads between the sugar cane. There are huge tortoises and I was told that they are the oldest living tortoises.
