Pokhara abounds in many kinds of accommodation options.

It has luxurious hotels such as Hotel Glacier & Spa offering rooms starting from $80, as well as budget guest houses offering rooms for under 400 rupees, which is less than four dollars.

Let me firstly share some information on luxury hotels, then describe some mid-range accommodation options, and finally give you some information about budget-friendly places to stay.

Pokhara Luxury Hotels

Pokhara doesn't have many luxury hotel options. The luxury hotels and resorts that I've visited weren't up to the standard, with the exception of a few.

The most famous luxury hotel in Pokhara is Hotel Glacier & Spa. Its reputation is excellent, and, in my opinion, it has rooms of high standard which are worth the money paid.

The staff of this hotel are polite and professional. There's an excellent restaurant located downstairs. You can see the map location of this hotel here.

Another good semi-luxury hotel option is the newly-opened Hotel Raniban Arcade. Since they've just opened, they offer low-priced rooms with stunning views of Pokhara Lake.

Since this hotel is new, it offers a truly good deal for your stay - an ensuite room for one person is currently priced at 3,000 rupees, which is around $28. I'm not sure, though, if you can book a room at such a price online - but you can get it if you just turn up at their place.

You can see the map of the restaurant of this hotel here (as it's new, the hotel itself is not yet marked on the map).

Another good semi-luxury hotel choice is Lake City Hotel. Although it might not be suitable for those with children or large groups (since the staff is young and probably inexperienced), it's a perfect choice for those looking for a luxury room experience for a low cost.

Currently they offer their best Fewa Lake view rooms for 2,500 rupees which is around $23. The rooms truly have the feel of luxury, and since the best rooms face the lake and not the busy street, nights should be quiet there.

Mid-Range Pokhara Accommodation

Pokhara has plenty of mid-range accommodation options not so much different in quality from one another. If you choose to stay in mid-range accommodation in Pokhara, you are likely to get a clean room with a nice view, as well as internet, towels, soap, and other expected conveniences.

One of my favorite mid-range accommodation choices, located in a tourist hub of Pokhara Lakeside, is Hotel Plaza Annapurna. Their rooms are well-ventilated and sunny, the price is great, and downstairs they have a budget-friendly restaurant.

Currently you can get a non air-conditioned room for around 800 rupees, which is around $8. But that's depending on the season, of course. During peak tourist months you'll probably pay around 1250 rupees for the same room, which is around $12.

You can see its map location here.

Hotel Mandap & Restaurant is another excellent option. Like the-just-mentioned hotel, this particular hotel is located in a busy part of Pokhara Lakeside and provides airy and sunny rooms.

The rooms have a slightly more luxurious feel than the previously mentioned hotel, therefore the price may be a little higher - from 800 rupees to 1,500 rupees ($15).

They have a small restaurant located between the lower and upper floors of the hotel. It faces the garden, so it may be relaxing and peaceful to have your dinner there. The menu prices are budget-friendly.

Hotel Harmony is located in the Kahare side of Pokhara and provides beautiful sunny rooms for around 600 rupees ($5.62).

You'll get to enjoy all the expected hotel facilities, and you might also be lucky to get a semi-private balcony offering a great view of Pokhara Lake, as shown in the picture below.

Pokhara Budget Accommodation

The Kahare part of Pokhara Lakeside is home to the largest variety of budget rooms. The ones that are truly cheap will have no power back-up and probably will offer only cold water. They would be priced around 300 rupees (less than $3) or less.

However, the guest houses which offer conveniences such as hot water, internet and a supply of towels, may be low-priced too - you may get a room offering all the mentioned facilities for around 400 rupees or sometimes even less, if you get really lucky.

For example, Hotel Cocoon offers all these facilities and an ensuite bathroom for 400 rupees.

If you stay long-term, the price may be even dropped to lower than 350 rupees.

Another great budget-friendly choice is New Tourist Guest House. This guest house offers rooms for 400 rupees, if you stay long-term. They may even give you a room for this price for a short stay - depending on how busy they are.

They have all the above mentioned hotel facilities, and their hotel is located at the beginning of Pokhara Lakeside - where most of the luxury hotels are.

The only problem with this hotel is that there's a restaurant located just in front of its gates, and quite often loud music is played there, so this might disturb the stay of some sensitive visitors.

Visitor's Inn is another budget-friendly choice. The rooms of this hotel are airy and clean, and the owners are a nice family.

If you stay long-term, they can give you a room for 500 rupees ($4.68). If your stay is short, you should get a room for 600 rupees ($5.62). As the rooms have a street view, expect the evenings to be somewhat noisy.

Visitor's Inn isn't marked on the map, but you should look for it when heading towards the Kahare side of Pokhara Lakeside. It's situated on the lake-facing side of the street.

Summary

Pokhara has plenty of accommodation options to choose from. Although it has luxury hotels, most of them don't offer good value for money apart from a few. It's the budget and mid-range places that this city excels in.

Prices of mid-range rooms range from around 800 rupees (≈$8) to 2,500 rupees (≈$23). For this amount of money you should get a room with a private balcony and breakfast should be included in the offer. The room should also have hot water, internet, as well as towels, soap, and toilet paper.

Budget rooms range from around 400 rupees ($3.75) to 700 rupees ($6.56) and should have hot water, internet and towels. The ones below this price range are likely to have no conveniences as such, but you're likely to only get a basic room. Such cheap accommodation options are more plentiful in the Kahare part of Pokhara Lakeside.
