Red Lobster Ottawa Seafood Restaurant Review

Red Lobster For The Seafood Lover In You!

Red Lobster is not an inexpensive choice but it is a delicious one! In June of 2009, our son graduated from Grade 12 and he chose Red Lobster in Ottawa on St. Laurent Boulevard for his graduation dinner. We were amazed at the comfortable surroundings, the pleasant service and the delicious food and we had a very nice, private celebration of his hard-earned graduation.

We visited Red Lobster early one Friday evening and were greeted pleasantly and immediately shown to a table for four.

We didn't actually see these guys at the restaurant but there definitely were lobsters there and the staff was just as pleasant as these two are!

Our Experience at Red Lobster in Ottawa

Our waitress arrived quickly and explained a few daily specials including the fresh catch of the day. She took our drink order and recommended an excellent non-alcoholic drink, the Sunset Passion Colada, for my husband and my son. I ordered a Triple Berry Sangria.

She returned in a reasonable time frame with our drinks and took our orders.

My son and I both ordered Wood-Grilled Lobster and Sweet and Spicy Shrimp as shown in the video. This meal included a grilled lobster tail, a skewer of sweet and spicy shrimp and jumbo coconut shrimp served with pina colada sauce.

My husband ordered the Peach-Bourbon BBQ Shrimp and Scallops.

Our meals came with a salad -- tossed or Caesar. My husband and I enjoyed our tossed salads with balsamic vinaigrette although the salad would be my one disappointment of the evening since it consisted only of iceberg lettuce and a couple of tomato slices and cucumber slices. My son's Caesar salad looked and was delicious. Obviously, he knew what he was doing.

A basket of fresh bread was delicious, if a touch salty.

All three of us thoroughly enjoyed our seafood. It was every bit as scrumptious as it appeared in the commercial.

Our sweet and spicy shrimp had a nice bite, the coconut shrimp was delicious as was the accompanying sauce and the lobster tail was good, too. I enjoyed the grill flavour of the sweet and spicy shrimp and the lobster although I couldn't help wondering if the lobster was a little overpowered by the grill.

My husband said his bourbon shrimp was just 'peachy.'

All of our meals were served with rice and broccoli which both my son and I thought were 'okay' or 'all right' but not great. We didn't care for the flavor of the rice and the broccoli simply wasn't particularly flavourful. We could have substituted a variety of items for the rice, next time we will. My husband's rice was fine but it enjoyed the benefit of the bourbon-peach sauce.

Red Lobster Earned A 9 Out Of 10

And Yes, I Would Go Back Again!

(That is the ultimate test, isn't it?)

June 2014 Visit

We recently returned to Red Lobster where we both had a catch of the day selection. As usual, the service was great and the food delicious. Two things to watch out for -- if you are going at supper time on a Friday or Saturday night, make reservations (although I don't know if they take them) or go early or late to avoid a long wait. We waited for 45 minutes. The second issue is that, though delicious, my Hawaiian fish dish was extremely salty. It was very tasty but the presence of all that salt means that I will never order that dish again.

Red Lobster Has A Fabulous Canadian and American Website

If you are in Canada, you will find lots of information available on Red Lobster's Canadian Website including complete menus with prices, videos, health information about seafood, company history and much more. If you are in the United States, you will want to visit this link.

You will also find plenty more reviews on Ottawa's Red Lobster restaurant by visiting Trip Advisor. You will find quite a range in the reviews!

If it is just great seafood recipes you are looking for and not necessarily Red Lobster recipes, you might want to try Williams-Sonoma's Seafood: Food Made Fast. This cookbook received fantastic recommendations from Amazon's readers including, "The recipes are scrumptous, different and easy."

Searching For Red Lobster Recipes?

With a quick look, I found two phenomenal sources of Red Lobster recipes. First of all I recommend trying Red Lobster's own website in the Chef's Kitchen section by by clicking right here. There is plenty there to tempt your taste buds! However, you might also wish to check out Secret Recipes. This blog lists yet another 76 Red Lobster recipes.

Got Dessert?

We really wanted dessert but alas, we were simply too full to eat another bite. I had my eye on the key lime pie which sounded and looked delicious. My son recommended we come back another time for dessert. If we do go back, you will be the first to know. Susan52 recommended takeout for our dessert. Now what a brilliant idea that was...the key lime pie would have been just as tasty at home! Too late this time but next time, we'll keep her suggestion in mind!

I have found Red Lobster to be of consistent quality at different locations. Lobsterfest is one of my favorite times of the year.

Great review on Red Lobster. I've been to the restaurant a few times since I came to Canada and have always enjoyed the food and service. I haven't been to one in a long time though...I enjoy seafood. Blessings! :)

I have eaten at a couple of them before, but to be honest, it's just ok to me. As far as seafood goes, I prefer those "You buy We fry" places. You know, like those fish markets who will fry up your choices for you on the spot.

I don't go often, but generally I have a good experience with Red Lobster. The only negative thing I can think of is one visit there when traveling through Ohio. I ordered some crab, but they were out. Then I selected something with Lobster, but they were out. I forget what I ordered next, but they were out of it as well. Basically all they had was shrimp...which I'm not too nuts about. Guess whoever did the ordering at that particular restaurant needed some "improvement".

I haven't been to the Red Lobster in Ottawa but I have been to several of them in the states. We have celebrated many family occasions at Red Lobster including the births of our 3 sons, (It was on the way home from the hospital!) and on up to the time when my son left for the navy. We love Red Lobster.

We frequently choose Red Lobster for a nice dinner out and we really enjoy it. It's not the same as eating at a seafood restaurant right on the ocean, but it's not a bad substitute if the ocean is a long way away, as it is for us. I love the lobster accessories you found to include here. They make me want to redecorate my kitchen!
