Some pretty cool things have happened and are associated with San Bernardino.

Fun Stuff on San Bernardino

Dick and Mac McDonalds started McDonald's hamburgers during the 1940s in San Bernardino. They sold the rights to Ray Croc, and the rest is history.


Glen Bell, inspired by McDonald's, opens Bell's Hamburgers in San Bernardino. Later, he would change to tacos and Taco Bell is born.


The Rolling Stones gave their first Amercan concert in 1964 in San Bernardino.


Actor Gene Hackman was born in 1930 in San Bernardino.


President LBJ ran an elevator in downtown San Bernardino for 1 year in the 1920s.


Randy Rhoads, Ozzy Osbourne's guitarist in the early 1980s was killed in 1982. His tomb is actually in San Bernardino at Mt. View Cemetary. His grandparents are also buried there.


San Bernardino is the largest county, land-wise, in the United States.


Sammy Davs Jr. lost his eye in a car crash in San Bernardino, 1954.


Bob Lemon, baseball hall of fame pitcher, was born in San Bernardino, 1920.


Will Roger's last stage appearance occurred in San Bernardino in 1935, just before he died in a plane crash in Alaska. The theatre where he appeared, California Theatre, is still there and operating.

      Great article. When I was 16 taking drivers ed the instructor had me drive to Randy Rhodes grave. There were a bunch of lipstick marks and flowers I thought it was cool.
