The Best Suggestions For Travel Lovers

A really large and important part of a traveler's budget is transportation and this often includes airfare. The frugal traveler does more than keep an eye out on the internet for discounted flights. He or she looks for more creative ways to stretch their travel dollars and that's what I think I can help you with.

Free Stopovers Guide: My wife and I flew Air New Zealand the first time we vacationed in Australia. The reason we did so was because they had a stopover in New Zealand, and not just any type of stop over, but a free stopover! This allows you to possibly see new places you wish to go without having to shell out for more airfare. When we went back to Australia the next year, we wanted to stop in Tahiti. We did our research and found out Air Tahiti Nui was going to have a free stopover in Tahiti, so we booked that flight right away.

Hidden Cities: Some airlines openly offer free stopovers as benefits; however hidden cities are typically discouraged and unadvertised by airline companies. The cheap traveler is then able to gain huge savings by taking advantage of such stopovers.

An example of this is a trip from New York City to Las Vegas. Sometimes a flight from New York City to Los Angeles is less expensive, even though this same flight stops in Las Vegas to pick up more passengers. So what is to stop the frugal traveler from getting off early, at the destination he or she really wants to visit? A few things: Luggage will be sent to the ticketed destination so this trick is for carry on only passengers. Also the flier must remember that the return ticket should start at his or her real destination.

Getting Bumped: If you're looking to get very lucky with your travels and perhaps get a night or two more in a city you quite enjoy, be open to the option of being bumped. Typically airlines compensate you quite well when you give up your seat to another passenger.

Be sure to consider both the pros and cons of being bumped. Also it's very important that you know the regulations of compensation that are in place. You should show up early so you have a boarding pass to give up so you can decide if it's worth it or not. If you're there sooner than others you will have a better chance of getting your extra ticket(s).

To increase the chances of being bumped you can use the strategy of booking on flights that are typically quite full later in the day. By making use of discount sites and being creative, travel doesn't have to empty your bank savings, and this allows the thrifty traveler to get more for less.

Booking Your Ticket and Hotel Online: A lot of regular travelers are pretty aware of this one, but online, I have always been able to get better deals than say, through a travel agent or through a hotel directory. For your Zurich airline ticket and hotels, check online.

If you are going to Zurich, for example, you will want to make sure you get your hotel online before heading over seas. You generally want to do this a few weeks before your trip before the hotel fills up and the prices are raised up.

      Yep. You're welcome and agreed.

One does need the time. If one is under a crunch for work or has impatient kids maybe, may be harder, but if you have some time and are maybe single or a couple, should work like a charm.

Sounds nice and thank you for spreading the word. If one has the time to take these advantages it would be worth a free ticket to get bumped.
