Your Spain journey begins in the gleaming Barajas international airport terminal 4, an award winning creation of celebrity architect Richard Rogers. Your private cultural ad- venture starts in Toledo, the ancient and original Spanish capital known for its pristine setting on a hilltop next to the Tagus river and Jewish, Christian and Islamic heritage.

After a private transfer to your central hotel and time for R&R, meet your guide in the lobby for a fun private 2 hour orientation walking tour to include some of the original Spanish capital's most impressive highlights based on your unique interest. Next day you go south to Granada in southern Spain's Andalucia region.

General Logistics: *Dinners are typically served after 9pm in southern Spain but tapas appetizers are often to available before. Your friendly expert MagicalSpain tour leader will be giving you more info on times each day.

Art lovers note: fine art museums are availble in Seville (considered Spain's 2nd best collection of 16c), Ronda and Cordoba as well the incredible Prado and Riena Sofia of Madrid.

Granada & Countryside

Your MagicalSpain tour manager will welcome you to Spain at 12noon at front door of historic hotel Victoria in the Granada old town. Check your bags and off we go to enjoy a oriention walking tour of the old town including the traditional fountain that comes from 16c Cathedral and perhaps tombs of kings and queens. A wonder of the world is next, the legendary Alhambra Palace, with exotic gardens where harems were kept, on an exclusive VIP tour with local expert Diego in Granada. The Alhambra is on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

After seven centuries of battles, Granada was conquered by King Fernando and Queen Isabel in 1492 from the Moors which led to the financing of Columbus' New World exploration. Tonight we dine on fine local fare, with a unforgettable vista of the Alhambra and some tasty regional wines.

Medieval Villages, Mountains & Countryside

With typical deep blue skies south of Granada, we enjoy relaxed country walking and fertile valleys, olive grove-covered hills, almond & fruit trees, farms, and vineyards.Whitewashed medieval villages and country walking and rustic dining invigorate us. Learn about the ancient art of making extra-virgen olive oil and curing meats with just salt and mountain air. Later a fun festive feast of paella made by our hardworking friend, uber-innkeeper/chef Mercedes beckons! We'll sleep for 2 nights surrounded by olive trees, rolling hills and horses in a Agriturismo of rustic beauty built from a lovingly restored medieval mill house that is built over Roman foundations.

Mysterious Alpujarras or Picasso in Malaga

Today you can choose one of two fun culturally rich options for your day:

1) For a fun active day, we offer a journey with country walking into the mysterious Alpujarras, a region of fertile valleys, hilltowns and mountains with white washed cubic villages that have changed little in some aspects since he 16th century. Enjoy guided walk and rustic lunch + white-washed cubic village exploration in what was the Moors last place of refugee after losing Andalucia to the Castillians in 1492!

Malaga day trip: For modern art lovers, we also want to still offer a tour of the Picasso museum of Malaga. Malaga has a charming old town, good shopping, fun dining, beaches and port with Phoenician origins but the travel time is some 3 hours with our van.

Note that art museums are available in Seville (considered Spain's 2nd best collection of 16c), Ronda and Cordoba as well.

Olive Grove Train & Medieval Ronda

Do you love olive oil? On our cross-country train ride today to postcard-pretty Ronda, you will pass through huge sea-like olive groves and will see why Spain is the world's number one producer of olive oil (selling up to 50% to Italy who then resells it). Later we'll explore the dramatically set village of Ronda on foot.

Expect incredible panormaic views, art from a contemporany of Picasso, a restored medieval bath and Moorish style architecture, 16c stone mansions and fountains all over. Some may want to check out the world's oldest stone bullring near our hotel.

Before dinner perhaps you'd enjoy a tasting of gourmet acorn-fed free range Iberian cured hams, a big hit with most non-vegetarians. This is now the world's most expensive pork product.....something like the Kobe beef of the world of pork.Tonight we'll dine on some of Andalucia's best tapas and vinos in the non-touristy restaurant of our Spanish amigo Cristobal who lived a few years in Australia!

Medieval Ronda & Country Walk

Today we have a different walk crossing towering bridges into the fortified old town and then out the other side to arrive to ancient footpaths surrounded by olive groves to a mysterious religious shrine with pagan and Christian elements! After lunch, enjoy a bit of R&R with time for Craft shopping, reading or perhaps a siesta after these late Spanish dinners.

Cultural Shoppers often enjoy the lacework, pottery, leatherwork, medieval doors and wrought-iron products is good here. Michelin-starred chef Sergio Lopez will prepare a unforgettable meal for us 450 feet up, a medieval village still protected by fortified walls. of our guest!

Discover Aristocratic Seville

In the good company of local expert Concepcion or Antonio get a savvy insider's tour of the old town and exotic Alcazar palace and gardens where major scenes from Ridely Scott's movie Kingdom of Heaven was shot (appearing to be a medieval paalce in Jerusalem). After lunch some there are many options...some may want to visit the huge gothic Cathedral or Fine Arts museum.

Another option is to learn basics of the Andalusian festival dance... perhaps a distant cousin of flamenco dance, have a massage in a Moorish bath and tea house, shop for ceramics, olive oils, leather goods or just relax with a cool glass of fino, Rioja or Priorato wine and fantastic cheeses on orange-tree-lined plazas near our central hotel.

Seville is the capital of Tapas cuisine and so tonight we'll enjoy a tapas feast in unknown local taverns including one from the 14th century! Savor a wine tasting with vinos tintos y blancos of northern Spain tonight as we toast our new friends from our normally interesting like-minded group and guides.
