Buy a Retirement Home for Weekends or Summers in New Hampshire

Updated on July 6, 2015

Weekend Cottage in New Hampshire or Seasonal Home for Retirees

This community, Lake Forest Resort, geared to older adults makes a perfect summer home for snowbirds. Spend the winter down south with the palm trees, but escape the southern heat and humidity to spend spring, summer and fall in comfort, surrounded by woods and not far from a first-class lake, Great East Lake. Situated on the Maine-New Hampshire border, it is the third largest lake in New Hampshire.

You won't believe all the amenities at Lake Forest Resort or all the features included in the cottages. It's a fantastic opportunity to live in a rustic setting yet in complete comfort.

This cottage is move-in ready and fully furnished, even down to the pots and pans.

Photos furnished to Virginia Allain by the owners of the park model.

My Friends Are Selling Their Cottage - Summer 2015

When I heard that Hank and Barbara were putting their place in Lake Forest Resort up for sale, I told them I would feature it on my blog. It's a lovely place, just a few years old and in wonderful condition with lots of upgrades.

You can see the photos that I took of it and displayed on my blog, Summer in New Hampshire. It's a very tempting cottage. It's move-in ready, as it is fully furnished, even down to the pots and pans.

Seasonal Cottage with Storage Space for a Car and a Boat

You can have a carport in the summer to park your car or boat in.

Canvas for the metal-framed carport is stored in the shed over the winter. Lake Forest closes for the winter and the cottages are winterized.

There is no lawn to mow (easy maintenance). The lots have sandy or gravel yards surrounded by wooded, natural areas.

Great East Lake is partly in Maine and partly in New Hampshire. The Lake Forest Resort has a launch area, docks and a swimming area on Great East Lake. This is just a short walk from the park model we have for sale.

@Frischy: The place closes in the winter. All the cottages have their pipes drained and antifreeze put in.

Looks so nice! Can it be lived in year around? No idea about value of a place like this, so listing an asking price would be helpful.

What a great idea! I'm about to steal it to do a lens for my WV cabin I have for sale. Thanks for the inspiration!

This looks like a great getaway. I really think you should list the price though to give people an idea of what the starting point is.
