Stuff to do in Chattanooga, TN

If you've lived in Chattanooga, TN for a while, and you think you've already done everything there is to do, you're not alone. Chattanooga is such a cool town, but sometimes it can be hard to come up with new ideas and creative things to do. Well, your search for things to do in Chattanooga, TN can end here. I've compiled a list of some of the best ideas of things to do in Chattanooga, TN and I'll give you the scoop. Whether you're looking for something to do when its raining, something cheap to do, you've been in Chattanooga forever, or you're just here for a visit, this list will have plenty of ideas for you!

Things to do in Chattanooga, TN - Watch a Baseball Game
If you're looking for fun things to do in Chattanooga, TN, add a baseball game to your list. I have baseball fever, so this is probably one of my favorites. Even if you're not a fan of the sport, you can still enjoy some time in the sun working on your farmers tan while eating a hotdog. Man, I love being an American! I love Chattanooga, and I love baseball. Even though most people think of this activity as something to do in Chattanooga, TN on the weekend, the Chattanooga Lookouts play most weekdays too. In fact, most of the time you can get a coupon or promotion that will help you enjoy this activity for between 5-10.00 per person, which makes it a very affordable way to spend 3-4 hours with your family or friends. I might be a redneck, but I make minor league baseball games an all day event. If you get there early on one of the Sunday games, you might find my friends and I playing football in the parking lot and tailgating the day away. Get creative, try to be cool like me, watch a few baseball games this season. is the link to the Chattanooga lookouts if you want to buy your tickets online. AT&T field is located at 201 Power Alley, Chattanooga, TN 37402.

Things to do in Chattanooga, TN - Watch a Soccer game
Even though it isn't uncommon to watch a soccer game with the final score 0-1, soccer is one of the fastest moving and active sports you will find. Watching a soccer game can be a great thing to do in Chattanooga, TN, and the price tag is surprisingly low. The tickets are just 5.00 per person, and I've seen season tickets that let you watch every home game for as low as 20.00 on their website. You can buy tickets online at or just show up at the stadium and buy your tickets at the gate.

Things to do in Chattanooga, TN - Play Paintball
I'm the best sister in the world. In fact, I have been for a long time. I, at the age of 17, bought my little brother, at the age of 12, a Paintball Gun. Yes! I did! My parents had no idea, and there was no taking it back. I'm still probably his favorite person on the planet, and that was probably the turning point in our sibling friendship. Still, while this is an amazing way for a pre-teen to spend the day, I've learned that boys do not outgrow this love of violent play as they get older. My husband and a bunch of his friends went and shot each other with paint-balls for his "BFF's" bachelor party. I haven't played yet, but it's on my list of things to do before I die. Every time I see one of the welts that the paint ball makes, it pushes it a little further back on the list. Then, every time I see the pictures of those crazy glasses and goofy smiles, I bump it up a little higher. I found a place in Chattanooga where men can be men and women can be awesome... it is called "Insane Paintball" so you know its serious! They're located at 1200 Wisdom Street, Chattanooga, TN 37406 and you can call (423) 624-2121 to make reservations.

Things to do in Chattanooga, TN - Miller Plaza
There's almost always something free going on at Miller Plaza on the weekends, and usually they have some kind of free live music... especially during the summer. Check it out if you're walking around in the area. They're located at 850 Market Street, Chattanooga, TN 37402, or you can call (423) 265-0771 to see if anything is going on.

Things to do in Chattanooga, TN - Visit the Aquarium
If you're looking for things to do in Chattanooga, TN and you've never been to the Aquarium, you should give it a shot. Located at 1 Broad Street, Chattanooga, TN 37402 you will find around 10,000 animals. They have penguins, which was enough to get me in the door. They also host the IMAX adventures of the deep adventure. You can call (423) 265-0695 for more information about pricing, and to purchase your tickets in advance.

Things to do in Chattanooga, TN - Visit the Zoo
The Chattanooga Zoo doesn't just have to be a field-trip destination. Enjoying a tour through the controlled wilderness is a great way to spend a Saturday or Sunday with your family, friends, or to take a date. If you're looking for things to do in Chattanooga, TN the zoo is located at 301 North Holtzclaw Avenue, Chattanooga, TN 37404, and you can call for ticket prices at Phone: (423) 697-1322. The tropical rain forest exhibit is home to chimps and monkeys that you're not allowed to feed but you are allowed to adore. I don't know what it is, but every time I see the chimpanzees swinging around I imagine what my puppy would be like if he had hands. I would love to have a pet monkey, but mine would have to come pre-potty trained. Leave me a comment if you've got any ideas on how to make that happen for me! This incredible Chattanooga attraction is also the home to spider monkeys, jaguars, and capybaras. So, take your group and pack a lunch! There's enough to see in the Chattanooga Zoo to fill up a day, so enjoy!

Things to do in Chattanooga, TN - Watch a Comedy Show
I found a couple of places in Chattanooga, TN where if you're looking for something to do, you can catch a good comedy show. The Comedy Catch is located at 3224 Brainerd Road in Chattanooga, TN 37411 and you can call (423) 629-2233 to make reservations and check show times. I wouldn't call this type of humor "family friendly" or anything, but sometimes its fun to get outside of your norm and be offended for an evening.

Things to do in Chattanooga, TN - Murder Mystery Dinner
To be honest, this isn't my type of entertainment. I just don't get into this kind of thing, but I'm including it because I know a lot of other people love it! So, if you're looking for something to do in Chattanooga, TN you can look into a Murder Mystery Dinner They're located at 138 Market St., Chattanooga, TN 37402 and you can call (423) 517-1839 for more information.

Things to do in Chattanooga, TN - Take a ZIP LINE Adventure!
That's right, I used an exclamationpoint for this one! This was one of the more expensive items on this list of things to do in Chattanooga, TN, but so worth it! Oh man, I'm afraid of heights, but I sucked it up and went on this course and it was AWESOME! This is a great way to stop being boring, but the price tag was about 30.00 per person. Save up if you have to! This adventure takes you on a zip line tour around ruby falls, and the views are incredible. Actually, this adventure in Chattanooga, TN would be a lot of fun even with your eyes closed. I don't know what it was, but zip lining gives you this feeling of safety and risk, and a rush of adrenalin. This is a cool bonding experience, and a perfect date idea. I went out with my husband, sister, brother, and brother-in-law and we had a blast. If you're too scared of heights, this might not be the adventure for you. You literally have to make yourself jump forward off of a tall platform and hold on until you cross the gap and reach the next one. Wow! Typing about it makes me want to go again! The Ruby Falls Zip Stream Adventure is located at 1720 S Scenic Hwy Chattanooga, TN 37409 and they are only open on Saturdays and Sundays. You can call Ruby Falls for general information at (423) 821-2544.

Things to do in Chattanooga, TN - Take a ghost tour
I'm not sure if I believe in ghosts or not, but I think that at least some of the time I do. If you like to be scared, taking one of the ghost tours can be a scary and fun thing to do in Chattanooga, TN. I don't like to be scared, so this option isn't for me. I lose sleep over scary commercials. I just don't have the stomach for it. Still, lots of people enjoy the paranormal, and if you're looking for a ghost tour from someone who really believes, call (423) 821-7125 for reservations. I think tickets are around 10.00 per person for adults.

Things to do in Chattanooga, TN - Enjoy a riverboat ride
One of the best date ideas in Chattanooga, TN is to enjoy a dinner on the Tennessee River. The address is 201 Riverfront Parkway, Chattanooga, TN 27401. You can call for reservations at (423) 266-4488.They usually have live music (it isn't always good) and options like shrimp and prime rib, but they have other cruises like the Pizza Cruise with other options. I don't think that the riverboat cruise would be my favorite restaurant if it was on dry land, but I really enjoy the experience of eating on the water, and that's why this makes the list for fun things to do in Chattanooga, TN.

Things to do in Chattanooga, TN - Explore Rock City, Lookout Mountain, and Ruby Falls

Chattanooga is full of beautiful scenery and places to explore, but the three that top this list of things to do in Chattanooga, TN are lookout mountain, ruby falls, and rock city. Rock City is located at 1400 Patten Road, Lookout Mountain and you can call (800) 854-0675 to buy tickets in advance. Tickets are around 18.00 for adults, but you can easily spend a day enjoying everything rock city has to offer. Rock city is located at the top of lookout mountain, and is a great place to enjoy all year. Still, the best time to go is between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day when they have the festival of lights. Wow! Rock city also has a view of "seven states" and a pretty good restaurant. Even so, I'm always one to pack a lunch and leave it in the car, and with your all day pass you'll be able to save a little on food that way. You can also take a guided tour through the caverns of lookout mountain, and enjoy the 240 foot underground waterfall "Ruby Falls" for the adult price of around 17.00. You can visit Ruby Falls at 1720 S. Scenic Hwy., Chattanooga or call (423) 821-2544 for ticket reservations. The Incline Railway is another fun way to enjoy Lookout Mountain. You'll find them located at 3917 St. Elmo Ave., Chattanooga or you can call (800) 825-8366 for ticket reservations. I'm pretty sure the incline railway is around 14.00 per adult ticket, and that may change depending on the time of year. I'm not sure it was worth the money, but it was a nice ride up to the shops and food in Historic St. Elmo. All around, lookout mountain is a great experience and a fun place to bring your family, a couple of friends, or a date!

Things to do in Chattanooga, TN - Rent a Funny car or Scooter
If you're looking for things to do in Chattanooga, TN, you've just stumbled across my favorite idea! I was walking around downtown Chattanooga with my husband, little brother, and my little sister and her husband. We'd walked over the bridge twice, grabbed some coffee, and spent a little time hoping the guy on the jetski in the bay would bust. He didn't, so we were really bored. We noticed that there were a bunch of these pimped out golf carts by the subway, and decided to investigate. Oh man, best day ever! I really wanted to ride one of the scooters, but I've never tried anything like it and they required a little test drive to make sure you can safely ride. I was nervous, but after watching my brother and husband pass, I decided to give it a try. I passed too! My little sister freaked out and refused to try, so she rented one of the funny cars with her husband. We had a blast! My little brother led the way around town, and we just enjoyed an hour of riding around with our trendy helmets on. I think our scooters were 19.00 an hour, and the funny car (which can squeeze 5 or fit 4 comfortably) was around 35.00 an hour. The address is 221 River Street, Chattanooga, TN 37405. You can call them at (423) 757-2100 to make sure they have a vehicle available.

Rock City, the Aquarium and Ruby Falls are my top favorites! The Farmers market is also great --- but probably more of something the locals would do as opposed to vacationers.
