My Top 5 Places for Summer Vacation

Updated on March 26, 2017

Top 5 Summer Vacation Destinations

I usually spend about 6 months planning my Summer Vacation. I always try to get the best rates, and read plenty of reviews before heading out for our Summer Holiday. This page is the result of many hours of research, several not so successful vacation plans, and several amazing vacation experiences. We love beach vacations, but prefer to drive to our destination, so we have found some really amazing United States vacation spots along the way. Please read on to find out the best places that I have spent summer vacation. I hope that you have an opporunity to visit them someday.

All photos on this page belong to me, and were taken on my actual travels.

The #1 Best Place to Take Summer Vacation

Siesta Key Beach Florida

The photo above is taken with my camera at Siesta Key Beach Florida. This place is America's best kept secret. Located on the Gulf shores of Florida. The sand is white quartz, it is actually cool to the touch. The water is clear blue. This place is literally a tropical paradise without leaving the country. I can not wait to go back!!!

My #2 Favorite Place for Summer Vacation

Clearwater Beach Florida

Because they have a bigger variety of mega resorts in Clearwater, we decided to try Clearwater beach. I have to say I loved it. Also beautiful white sandy beaches. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach. In my opinion this is the best resort in Clearwater Beach Florida. What I do is check their website almost daily for a special offer, and when I see one I pounce immediately. If you can get an unbeatable deal like I did. Stay here, service is to die for, and you can not beat the location.

Try Metal Detecting, It is Fun and Free! - Buy a Tesoro Metal Detector

When we were in Clearwater Beach Florida, we met an very interesting gentleman on the beach. He was using a metal detector and selling his treasures. This inspired my husband, so we went on amazon to buy these. The guy insisted that we buy a Tesoro.

My #3 Place For Summer Vacation

Jekyll Island Georgia

We are from the northeast, so this is actually a Pitstop to Florida. This pristine nature preserve is on the Atlantic Coast. No white sandy beaches here, but the nature is so beautiful and undisturbed. I was able to check dolphin sighting off of my bucket list, and it was so close I could touch it. We stay at the Hampton Inn, the pool there is great, and the walk to the beach is amazing.

#4 Best Place for Summer Vacation

Walt Disney World Deluxe Resort

This destination fluctuates from 1-4 depending which year it is. You will need to do your homework, make sure you get the best prices etc. I do not plan on writing much on this subject, because other internet writers have covered it really well. So please visit their pages, you will learn so much. My most recent visit was to Disney's Bay Lake Tower Resort. Don't forget to check Disney's website frequently for special offers. I hope my next trip to be to Disney's Beach Club Resort.

#5 Best Place for Summer Vacation

Any other Walt Disney World Resort

Walt Disney World has it all covered. They have been doing this for a long time. Every one of their resorts is designed for the entire family to have a full vacation experience. Honestly I am not a big fan of amusement parks, but at a Disney resort, you can not help but have a fun experience. Visit any of their resorts and you will be pleased. I prefer the Walt Disney World Deluxe Resorts, because they are much more relaxing. Walt Disney World's Moderate Resorts have great amenities, It is impossible to not have fun. Their pools are amazing.

We love going to Siesta Key too. Love, love, love the beach there. One of our favorite vacations was in St. Lucia though. Wow! Great page. Happy New Year to you!

A beautiful beach (probably because I live in MT and can already "vacay" there any time, and in MT, always thinking of summer and a beach!) Fun lenses, would like to check out the beaches. Thanks!

A nice article, however I would switch Clearwater Beach to #1; maybe because I am biased, I live here... :)

Thanks for the suggestions,Maria. I'm actually looking for a place to go in February when the weather here is -40c here. The Hyatt at Clearwater Beach looks good. I'll have to look into it some more. Thanks for the tips on watching for specials.

These look like lovely vacation destinations. I live in the tropics near the beach, so even though we still like beach vacations, they probably aren't at the top of my own personal wishlist.

You have some of my favorite places listed here. I was born in Clearwater, unfortunately I am all the way in Las Vegas, NV now, but I still have family in Florida.

Awesome lens! Very informative and some really great ideas for a vacation. One place that I don't think is on here that should be is Clearwater, Florida. The Phillies play their Spring Training Baseball there and you can find some great Clearwater Vacation Homes at a very reasonable price.

Funny how one's location determines holiday destination. We used to go to Siesta Key but during winter in Canada. My husband's parents have a place in Siesta Key so we go during Christmas break. Siesta Key has one of the best beaches in the world.
