Top Gifts for Men Who Travel
What do men need when they travel?
Top Travel Gifts for Men
Travel has indeed become a big part of life for scattered families and with vastly increased national and international mobility we are spread everywhere.
Think of the scenarios most frequent travelers face. Travel is not all fun. It is often stressful. Waits at the airports can be boring and standing at security lines can be trying. Once, when we stopped over Mumbai, every carry-on had to be tagged and stamped and we had to go down dark dirty rooms to identify our luggage.
So, when you think of gifts for travel, consider what would make travel less of a pain. Well provisioned, travel for the men in your gift list can be eased a little. If they are not travellers yet, give them gifts to kick-start them out of their arm chairs and soon they will be rolling their suitcases, too.
But for men who travel frequently, the top gifts to give are gadgets that would make travel less stressful and more enjoyable.
1. Gift of Communication
What better gift can you give one who is constantly on the road than this gift of being able to keep in touch with home. Or, once they arrive in another country will allow them to set up meetings, call up their contacts, make necessary reservations, check their emails or browse for much needed info.
Nothing can indeed compare to this gift especially if they don't have one yet. Chances are they already have one but this is not a problem. Upgrade what they have.
Samsung Unlocked Phone
Samsung has finally given us a phone that offers a stiff competition to all the other phones of this calibre in the market. Having let go of those plastic parts their phones used to have, this one is made of glass and metal making it a beauty, one you'll be proud to carry around with you.
So give him this Samsung S8, unlocked. Unlocked, the sim card can be changed depending on where your man goes and with the local sim card, pay only local fees. It is easy to buy cards from $5 to whatever amount is needed for communication while in that country. These cards are readily available in many street stores in other countries. People who have bought this have reported that it has really worked well for them in the countries they've visited.
A family member is using this now and although his other devices are Apple, he just loves this phone. It is much more intuitive. In fact, several of my friends who have been iPhone users for years now have just gotten this one and they, too, are impressed.
The battery life is also better. It is wifi and cellular enabled. You don't have to bring so many gadgets with you. We just went through several airports and it is embarassing to have several gadgets at this time of seamless integration.

2. Packing Help for Men who Travel
Packing and unpacking is often one of the most tiring and stressful part of travel. Easing this for your friends will help them enjoy travel more. It's funny but often packing organizers in beautiful design and colour help. With their things more organized and packed neatly, your men friends will be delighted. I just went on a 5-day holiday to Malaysia and I used the big organizer for all my clothes. By doing this, the clothes are kept clean. I place these packing organizers straight into the hotel closet. Makes packing and unpacking a cinch and suitcases neat. For your neat freak male friends, get these.
They can use this for those dirty and smelly clothes they want separated from the clean ones. Also, when they wear winter coats when they leave the house and are travelling to warm weather, they can use this to keep their coats and find more space in their luggage.
3. Travel Organizers for Small Electronics - Men Love this
Of course, there is always the family full time traveller with more travel stuff than a suitcase store!
Yes, what do you give someone who roams the world and probably has a museum of legacy clocks and suitcases (wheels broken) or neck pillows or insane adventure clothes for the safari in London or Margate or Cleveland? Or, someone who has done it all, seen it all and still has the most appalling T Shirts in memory of dead destinations.
Give them gifts that they'll use and enjoy and not put in their drawers to be given to some unsuspecting friends (maybe you!).
4. Noise Cancelling Headphone - Men who travel would love to get this
Not everything needs to be practical and cheap. Some things do enhance a travel experience and this noise cancelling headphone is a luxury. But if you can afford it, don't hesitate. You will make your man happy as he can use this all the time if he is to travel constantly.
Hands down this is the best choice in the market for noise cancelling headset. The price is a bit prohibitive but it is worth it. Bose has really done its research and just like its other products you can hear what you can't in the other products in the market. It has a carrying case to protect it well and the only downside is it runs on AAA batteries. However, people claim they haven't yet changed batteries even if they've used this on several trips even including a 15-hour one. But just to be sure, always carry spare AAA.

This is a much more handy Bose model. Easy to bring when you travel. From our own travel experience, nothing can really compare with Bose headphones. They are very reliable in giving you the best listening experience, making your travel much more relaxing.
5. Fabulous Men Sunglasses on Auctions - Offers the best bargain for men's sunglasses
There's no point travelling, if you're not gonna look cool.
Yes, everyone needs sunglasses and because it is an item we often lose when we travel, a number of them will not hurt. Give the men in your gift list who travel often one of these.
Sunglasses to Protect their Eyes
6. Wireless Router for Travel
Here's one that's really useful. When traveling for business or work, men often have to be in touch and a router will enhance their connectivity. We were just on a trip in Europe and the internet in hotel rooms are not really up to speed. With this, men can work in their hotel room where often they can concentrate more. They can also share connection especially when travelling with other people. You need to check compatibility options in countries where they often travel or this will just be useless.
Don't presume that connectivity is great in the places the men in your gift list are traveling to. We were just in Italy and it was hard to get connection in hotel rooms. I wish I had this router and in some cases, it would have been a big help.
7. Gadget Enabled Apparel - Take a look
8. What about travel speakers? - Fill their travel with music
Travel speakers are fantastic for men who often travel. They can listen to their own music collection wherever they are.
There are so many choices and the price range offers options for any budget. But our choice of travel speaker is the Lifetrons Drumbass IIIe. This set of speakers makes listening to music worthwhile. If you want bluetooth, get the latest offer from Lifetrons.
Or, you can click this link for more information on travel speakers.
9. A Light and Strong Carry-On Bag
A really decent well made, carry-on suitcase, regulation size but tough as nails. This is all a really seasoned traveller needs and as checking luggage now costs a mint, a book on how to pack and what to take will make sense.
Even if your seasoned traveler has already one, most of these luggage get broken after two years. The wheels crack, the cloth torn and more things you'd never expect.
I find this a very durable carry on, one that anyone would love to have.It is light as it is made of ballistic nylon so it can carry more weight as it is not saddled with its own weight.
Gift for the Family Young Traveler
Get your Men Immediately Connected when they travel
A major investment but worth it. It doesn't have to be an Apple. There are other tablets you can choose from that are equally good but if you can afford it, give your man an IPad. This will keep them entertained listening to iTunes collection of their favourites or surfing for more info on the place they are visiting. Through Face time you can also see where he is and be in touch in a much more satisfying way. Download the free Skype app so he can call you on your skype. Also, if you have an Apple Mac, you can connect his IPad iPhoto to this and enjoy all the pictures he takes from his travels.
You can also load it with his favourite books so those long waits in airports and long flights will be more tolerable.
10. Apple iPad for men who Travel - What a Gift
Often, when only on short trips, my husband and I just bring our iPad with us and it serves well for the things we need to do. It is much lighter. It is also easier to take out at airline security.
This maybe expensive but for male family members or really good friends, this will be much appreciated. Light for travel and for short trips, this is all your male friends will need. Think of them taking selfies in front of Angkor Wat or the Great Wall.
12. The Gift of a Kindle
If you are not an iPad fan
Yes. When you lug several books to ensure you have something interesting to read in your travel, you will appreciate having a Kindle. It is like carrying a library with you. You can also download books that you often will not find in the countries you travel to.
My husband and I have had our Kindles for years now and they have helped us go through those long waits in airports. By having a Kindle, you are always assured of having an interesting book to read. If you run out of interesting books, don't worry. Most airports now have WiFi, just download on your Kindle the books that interest you.
In one airport we were in, we used our Kindle to access our emails.
For the men in your gift list who travel often, get them a Kindle. Take a look at the Kindle paper white. The older ones may prefer this.
13. Portable Charger
Whatever you say, travelling even when it is first class is still a stressful experience. No matter what people claim, believe me, you wish you didn't have to go through all the complexity of trips and reservations from cars to hotels to plane tickets and add to that the hassle when one of your flights decides to cancel or just arrives really late or does the Vietnam Airlines trick and dies in front of you on the runway.
Given these, what do you give family or friends who have to travel?
Get this portable charger especially for the males in your gift circle who are constantly on the road less travelled by other humans. This will really be helpful for times when they're waiting in airports or on the road in some isolated places.
Multitool for travel
The Traveler's Leatherman
This is really useful for your men friends who travel often. Make sure it has a corkscrew to open wines in hotel rooms, cut some of those dried meat for those who want to make their own sandwiches in their hotel rooms or, for that matter, those who just want some fruit or veggies once in a while.
As well, the leatherman can help them fix almost anything from leaking faucets to tiny other items that can really let go in your travel. Make sure they check this in. if they don't check in luggage when they travel, forget it. But if they do and they plan to rent a car, give them this. This will be handy.
14. Leatherman for Men who Travel - A Big Help in Travel
In our travels, we often bring our leatherman and it has helped us out many times. This help is not just for cutting fruits in hotel rooms but cooking dinners for families and friends, fixing tables, chairs and other office appliances at international assignments and repairing travel items.
15. For those who love to trek
This collapsible trekking pole is just the perfect gift for men who love to trek. You can't go wrong as this is the most portable style in trekking poles. Easy to pack and carry, this is ideal for travel. Adjustable and can take up to 200 pounds.
For those older but still love to trudge streets of various cities, they will certainly need this when they travel. The walking required in many of the day tours and trips will be less challenging for seniors when they have this. It looks better than an old man's cane so this will not embarrass the macho old man in your list.
