Portable Speakers: Music Wherever You Go

The day of the boom box is over. Thank heavens. Goodbye to bad music on inferior speakers played at eye watering levels of wax melting screech. Hello to portable mini-speakers with outstanding sound quality. What's best is you can even put these in your pocket when you travel.

Yes, these fantastic miniature speakers are on the market now and are about the size of a roll of silver dollars. Their sound quality is just unbelievable.

Plugged in or bluetoothed to your smart phone, iPad, ePad or computer, they'll bring you a room full of your tunes that will make you feel at home when you travel. Truly tiny, they weigh nothing and 5 ounces of mass gives 5 tons of pleasure.

Incredible Sound from Lifetrons Drumbass IIIe

Lifetrons Drumbass IIIe

We were not really searching for travel speakers when we chanced upon the Lifetrons Drumbass IIIe in the Thai Airways flight magazine. However, we were really impressed with the sleek design and the promise of great sound. We noted that the design was awarded the most coveted Red Dot Product Design Award in 2011 and this, too, gave us confidence.

We had not really researched the top mini-speakers but we lucked out as when we got home, we found that the sound quality of these little beauties was just amazing and was completely compatible with our iPads and PCs.

Designed by Lifetrons, a Swiss company, these speakers go with any device that has a 3.5mm input for audio playback and for charging, any USB standard port. Each speaker is 43.2mm x 46mm each and weighs 72g.

Lifetrons DrumBass IIIe Speakers Amplifying Nature Music - More natural sound

Lifetrons DrumBass IIIe delivers much more natural sound. I connected the Lifetrons speaker to my iPad and chose nature music to test out its sound quality. Here's my video of this.

Here's the speaker I want to try

Interested in a Lifetrons DrumBass IIIe Metallic Stereo Speakers? - Or any other Lifetrons DrumBass Speakers?

As I have already mentioned, we got our speakers in one of our flights. These travel speakers are now available in about 70 airlines. It is sold by third parties here at Amazon and some people have concerns about warranty when buying through third parties. I have bought many times in Amazon's third parties and have had not problem.

Why a Travel Speaker - Things I love about my Travel Speaker

Travel speakers proved to be one of the most valuable items we bring with us in our travel. Although there is a stereo system in our hotel, we prefer to use this as we have all our music in our iPad so we have access to our collection anytime, be it in the pool, the office or the coffee shop.

We started bringing these travel speakers years ago with a box of two speakers, 4 by 2 inches. When we saw the Lifetrons Drumbass IIIe speakers, we tried them and we've never regretted our decision. It has enhanced our stay in many drab hotel rooms and provided us with more luggage space.

  1. You will have access to your personal music collection already in your iPad, iPod, MP3, Samsung Galaxy or Note or whatever compatible electronics you own.

Recently, we were gathered in our dining room in the cottage with children and grandchildren and started remembering our favourite songs. We attached this speaker to our iPad and just bellowed out favourite family songs which everyone have in their iPads. It turned out to be a great family bonding experience.

  2. Quality travel speakers will let you listen to beautiful sound wherever you are as long as there is WiFi available. You can easily bring this to your office or the pool because of its portability. Just remember to bring your own earphones in consideration for your colleagues who may have different music taste than you have.

The Travel Speaker I Use Now

Lifetrons Mini Speaker

Speakers with much more range and depth

As we sit in our hotel room, my husband and I, each of us bashing on our computers, in the background is Gordon Lightfoot gently filling the room with nostalgia and peacefulness that adds, at least, another star and maybe a half moon to our classic consultants' rent-a-cave.

Up to now, we've had a pair of mini monsters that took too much suitcase space for too little range. The new speakers available are much smaller and just give so much more range and depth without cranking the volume and blowing our neighbors out their windows. They're not perfect for the Fugue in D or for Holst at his most spectacular but if you're playing that stuff in some of the hotels over here, you really need small speakers. Or better still, earphones. For Serenade for Strings, James Taylor or the Eagles, these are just right.

Grumpy is now sitting behind me banging away on his vintage Dell making a noise that could be a hum while rock and rolling in his old wooden chair.

The Case of the Lifetrons DrumBass IIIe Stereo Speakers - Really compact for travel

Speakers with Compact Design

I can hold this case in the palm of my hand. Compact designs always attract travellers who always have to deal with suitcase space.
