Qawra - A treasure in the middle of the Mediterranean

Updated on January 7, 2014

Learn some things about Qawra

Hello guys!

On this Lens I'm going to present you the city of Qawra.

I'm going to talking about some of the greatest things there: a good hotel, a lovely restaurant, the climate and many other things.

I've spent a week there and I've really enjoyed it! And I must tell you that when I have the chance, I'll certainly return there.

Feel free to look around and, of course, if you want to, just go there!

All photos were taken by me.

Qawra - A great city in Malta

I've spent one week in Malta this August.

I've stayed at Sunny Coast Resort Club at Qawra, on the northeast of the island of Malta.

Qawra is a great city, it has many hotels, restaurants and bars but it is a quiet place. At least compared with the neighbor town, Buggiba.

Some help

These guide books will help know the country better.

I recommend you the first one! That book was my company for the whole week and I must tell you that it helped my a lot!

Climate in Malta

Malta has a Subtropical-Mediterranean climate. That means that this country has mild winters and hot summers, and these are the only seasons we have there.

The good thing is that it makes the country good for tourism. You can have warm weather from May to October, months that in other places are not suitable for beach holidays.

The bad thing is that this makes the land very arid and with few vegetation. This was one of the first thing I've noticed. You hardly see some vegetation, plants, flowers or plantations.

Sunny Coast Resort Club & Spa

This is the hotel I stayed in for the whole week at Qawra.

It's a 4 star hotel with internet, swimming pool (outside and inside), gym, spa and hair & nail saloon, restaurant.

The rooms were well equipped, with air conditioner, a good kitchenette, television, hairdryer and many other stuff.

The hotel close to the sea and to the most important road in Qawra.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to go to Qawra.

Just keep in mind that the hotels are a bit over evaluated, as the country is still a bit poor, compared with other countries in Europe.

The Overflow Restaurant

A great restaurant visited in Qawra was the "The Overflow".

I came across this restaurant before I left home, when I was searching for attractions, restaurants and bars in Qawra. This restaurant is the number 1 out of 55 restaurants in Qawra so I decided to look for more information.

I visited their website and facebook and I really enjoyed their menu. So, on my second night at Qawra, we decided to try the restaurant.

It was a great experience. The food was very well cooked, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was great. When we got there, the restaurant was full outside, so we had to eat inside. We were a bit disappointed about that, but it was good anyway. And, as we went there another day, we had the chance to eat outside. The climate in Qawra is amazing, so it's really good to eat at moonlight.

We tried some good plates: Chiken a la Maltese, Fenkata (a tradition dish with rabbit), pepper steak and some other delights.

I recommend you to eat at this hotel when you go to Qawra.

Itinerant Grocery
Itinerant Grocery

Itinerant Grocery

An amazing thing that I saw on Qawra when I arrived was an Itinerant Grocery.

Everyday, in the afternoon, at around 7pm, the Grocery arrived to my hotel. It stopped in front of it full of fresh fruits, vegetables, spices and some other important things (water, eggs, etc).

It was a great idea because when we're on vacations on a place we don't know, sometimes we don't want to go out and search for a good grocery in the city. So here's the solution! The grocery comes to you.

Entertainment

Other great thing about Qawra is that every night you have animation in this city! You can go to karaokes, parties, watch to some live music. You have bars, pubs and many other places to go at night.

The good thing about this is that if you want to stay at home, you won't be troubled my noise. Which is a great thing.

Just a little question

Have you visited Qawra?

Very nice lens. My wife and I holidayed in Qawra and Buggiba four years ago. We thoroughly enjoyed hiring a car and touring the island. One of our favourites was the 'Popeye Village'. We also took an all-day boat journey round the island. We plan to go back soon.
