My Trip to Tulip Town ~ Skagit Valley Tulip Festival

Updated on April 16, 2014

Tulip Town is a Tulip Farm in the Skagit Valley

I was fortunate to be able to drive up to the Skagit Valley area to see the tulips bloom. It is a great place to take photos of the tulip farms, ride a trolley through the tulips, and just enjoy beautiful Washington State!

Every April, the Skagit valley area of Washington blooms with acres of tulips. There is even a tulip festival!

Here are some pictures I took and information to help you plan your trip :)

When should I visit?

Tulip Town is located in Skagit Valley, Washington State, USA. It is located in the town of Mount Vernon, WA, which is about 60 miles north of Seattle, and 30 miles south of Bellingham.

The Tulip Trolley

One of the reasons we chose to visit the Tulip Town is because they have a Tulip Tractor Trolley, which is a rebuilt 1947 dairy feed wagon.

It was a very bumpy ride, but it was a great way for Grandma to see the whole tulip fields, since she has trouble walking.

My Tip: Save 50% on restaurants, shopping, etc

Joining Groupon is free!

I joined and was very surprised by the deals... Some deals are even online ones, like 50% off anything at Barnes & Nobles.

There's a new deal every day. If your city isn't listed, choose one that you might visit!

Taking Tulip Pictures

If you go on a busy day, you will have lots of chances to take pictures of people as well as the tulips. People watching is lots of fun, especially when people are having such great fun with their family!

I love to take flower pictures. Try taking pictures from many different angles so that you have some unique pictures.

If you squat down close to the ground, you can get a different view.

For close up views, be sure to turn on your macro or close-up function so that your pictures will come out clear.

I like to experiment with the use of flash on close up pictures. Sometimes turning on flash at a low setting will give just enough light to make a close up picture of a tulip glow.

I always associate Tulips with Holland so this is something new for me. A bit of drive from the UK though for a Sunday trip to the garden centre :)

Now, I know that you're following me! First to Cannon Beach and now to Tulip Town! Just proves that you have good taste! I love Tulip Town too. My husband actually got permission from the owners for me to photo and use some of their displays in my Tulip Town, USA lens. It's a beautiful and friendly place to spend some time. Thanks for writing this great lens.

When I was young, I went to the Tulip Festival in Holland Michigan (grew up not too far from there) a few times. Tulips are so beautiful.

Awesome -- you know, tulip town? I was thinking perhaps the Netherlands. I love tulips as they take me back to childhood in Cleveland and my grandpa's garden. Thank you.

Great lens - I love seeing fields upon fields of tulips! Last year, my husband and I went to Holland to see the tulip fields on Keukenhof gardens (wrote a lens about it). Best display I've ever seen. I had no idea that you could visit tulip fields in the U.S. Thanks for the info!

Have you ever been to the tulip festival in Woodburn, Oregon? It's pretty amazing, too, with a clear view of Mt. Hood on the horizon.

Beautiful lens. Thank you! Five *****'s and a fave!
