Katafanga Island, Fiji - Poseidon Undersea Resort
Poseidon Undersea Resort in Fiji
The Poseidon Undersea Resort in Fiji is, hands down, THE MOST unique resort I have ever heard of. This destination is the world's first seafloor resort , located on an island off of Fiji, in a 5,000 acre Fijan Lagoon. What makes the Poseidon Undersea Resort even more interesting is that the island the resort is located on is referred to as "Poseidon Mystery Island" on the official website. Through research, I discovered that it is very likely this underwater haven is located on Katafanga Island, but I honestly have not found a source that confirms or denies that.
Currently, the Poseidon Undersea Resort offers a week long vacation package that includes a 2 night underwater stay and 4 nights spent in the waterfront hotel and over-water bungalows. The resort is set up similar to an All Inclusive resort, where food, drinks, and activities are included in the price.
This resort is the definition of luxury. For the underwater stay, guests are transported 40 feet under the sea, by elevator, to their suites, "with all the comforts one would expect from a top rated hotel." Each underwater suite is made of 70% 4 inch thick, clear acrylic, allowing guests to view the gorgeous coral gardens and ocean life. Now...this is the BEST part..each suite is equipped with a button that releases fish food, so nearby fish will gladly come and pay your suite a visit. Also, at night, underwater lights can be turned on to attract sea life from deeper areas of the reef.

Saariselkä, Finland - Kakslauttanen Hotel and Igloo Village
Glass Igloos at Kakslauttanen Hotel and Igloo Village in Finland
The Kakslauttanen Hotel and Igloo Village in Finland is definitely on my list of places to visit. This destination is SO UNIQUE! The Kakslauttanen Hotel and Igloo Village boasts a variety of accommodations, including 40 first class log cabins, 5 of which are queen suites, a honeymoon turf chamber, glass igloos, and snow igloos. My personal choice would be two nights a glass igloo and 4 nights in a queen suite log cabin.
You may be thinking, "why in the world would anyone want to stay in a glass igloo?" In Finland, the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) are usually visible from late August to early April. The glass igloos present a gorgeous, unhindered view of the starry night sky and Aurora Borealis. The structures are built from a special type of thermal glass that prevents the glass from fogging up and the special glass also heats the igloo, keeping the space at a comfortable temperature. Each glass igloo includes a bathroom and luxury bed.
The queen suite log cabins look pretty dreamy to me as well. Each cabin boasts a kitchenette, luxurious bathroom, private sauna, and private outdoor hot tub. Also, the cabins are spaced far enough apart to give guests their privacy. Can you imagine gazing up at the Aurora Borealis with your loved one from a private hot tub? **sigh**

Bora Bora, French Polynesia - Le Meridien Hotel
Le Meridien Bungalows in Bora Bora
I would absolutely LOVE to visit Le Meridien in Bora Bora and stay in one of the Premium Overwater Bungalows. Le Meridien is located on a gorgeous blue lagoon and just as the name implies, the Overwater Bungalows are situated over the turquoise waters of the ocean.
My favorite feature of the bungalow is the floor of the living room. There is a large square of clear glass in the floor that allows you to enjoy the ambiance of the beautiful lagoon and watch the sea creatures below. Other amazing features include a private terrace overlooking the ocean, a set of stairs leading down to the water, and a bathtub in front of a huge panoramic window with a view of Mount Otemanu. Sounds like paradise to me!
This resort also offers different styles of accommodations to fit everyone's tastes. For those who enjoy the beach, the Beach Bungalow would be the best fit; just walk out the front door and you are standing on the white, sandy beach of the inner lagoon, right on the ocean. Pool Beach Villas are also available, featuring a private plunge pool on a secluded terrace.

Inverness, Scotland - Aldourie Castle
Aldourie Castle in Inverness, Scotland
I know this is a bit "princessy" of me, but I definitely want to stay at Aldourie Castle in Scotland at some point in my lifetime. Another reason that I feel that I MUST visit Aldourie Castle is because I am completely enamored by the Scottish Highlands due to my favorite series of books, The Outlander Series, by Diana Gabaldon, which takes place near Inverness.
Aldourie Castle has occupied the shores of Loch Ness for hundreds of years. The castle has been completely restored, "to create a luxurious, yet intimate home, in which the attention to heritage and period detail is matched by the quality and comfort of the furnishings." (Quoted from Aldourie Castle's Brochure) Although the structure's historic décor may transport you back in time, the castle is equipped with modern conveniences and amenities, so no worries, you won't have to do your business in the "privy."
This historic castle boasts 15 bedrooms, each unique in its own décor and personality. Some of the bedroom décor is based upon previous owners of the castle, some are decorated based on a period style, and others have been inspired by the castle's beautiful architecture. The luxurious and grand décor is just one element of the many that makes Aldourie Castle a desirable place to visit.
The grounds of Aldourie Castle are equally as beautiful as the interior, providing breathtaking views of Loch Ness, an infamous body of water known for the legendary Loch Ness Monster. The gardens and woodlands have also been restored to their beautiful "19th Century splendor." There are numerous walkways and paths for guests to explore the grounds, woodlands, and gardens...sounds like a dream come true!

Santorini, Greece - Villa Katikies
Villa Katikies in Santorini, Greece
I will have to admit, all that I know of Greece is what I have seen on TV. But what I have seen of the Greek culture and landscape has always fascinated me. Start off your vacation by boarding a ferry and enjoying a scenic 8-9 hour ride from Greek's mainland to the island of Santorini, which often stops at the islands of Paros, Naxos and Ios, along the way.
Villa Katikies is built on a 300 foot caldera cliff, overlooking the stunning Aegean Sea, on the island of Santorini. There are only 7 villas on the premises, which offers the hotel staff much more time to customize your stay as well as privacy that you won't find on more populated resorts.
The villas are whitewashed, inside and out, in the traditional Greek style, creating a sense of beauty and simplicity. The simplicity of the whitewashed walls combined with the luxury of the hand picked furniture and décor, creates a unique and comfortable environment for guests. Each villa offers its own private veranda, giving guests a view of the caldera and the Aegean sea's "azure waters." Also, there is a Jacuzzi, swimming pool, and sun deck on the room of Villa Katikies, again, offering up that magical view.
