Indonesia is a country that has thousands islands. That’s why Indonesia named as the biggest archipelago country in the worlds. Among thousands island in Indonesia, there are 7 unique islands you really need to visit because you will not find it in another place except Indonesia. Here the 7 Island :

  1. Samosir Island

Samosir Island is a volcanic island located on North Sumatera. This island known as the most unique island in Indonesia because it is located in the middle of Toba Lake. The lake and island were formed after the eruption of a supervolcano some 75,000 years ago. The lake is so beautiful and amazing, no wonder if the island that located on the middle of this lake become the most unique island in Indonesia. Samosir is the largest island within an island in the world. Samosir is a popular tourism resort due to its unique history. The tourism resort is concentrated in the Tuk – Tuk area. This island is also the center of Batak culture.

2. Komodo Island

The second unique Island is Komodo Island. It is located on Nusa Tenggara Province. This island has amazing view. Beside the beauty of its nature, you also can find the largest lizard on Earth, Komodo Dragon. This island is known as the habitat of Komodo Dragon. Komodo Island has a surface area of 390 square kilometers and human population of over two thousand. Komodo island is part of the Lesser Sunda Chain of islands and forms part of the Komodo National Park. In addition, this island is a popular destination for diving.

3. Onrust Island

The third unique island is Onrust Island. Onrust island is one of the most islands in Kepulauan Seribu, Jakarta. This island located near Bidadari Island. At colonial period, the citizens called this island as Kapal Island”Ship Island” because this island visited by many ships before going to Batavia. This island has a lot of archaeological things from colonial period. One of it is a house that used as museum in Onrust island. A mythology and treasure mystery of VOC makes this island as the third unique island in Indonesia.

4. Lumba – Lumba Island (Dolphin Island)

The fourth unique island is Lumba – Lumba Island. This island is located on the northen coastal of Flores Island, Indonesia. Why is it named as Lumba – Lumba Island (Dolphin Island)? Because the shape of this Island is looked like a dolphin. The shape of this island is so amazing dan looks like inspired by dolphin that swim along the island. No need to imagine it, from high place this Island look like a sea mammal, Dolphin. So unique, isn’t ?

5. Kucing Island (Cat Island)

Are you cat lovers ? if yes, you should really visit this unique island. The fifth unique island is named Kucing Island (Cat Island). It’s located on Tonyamang, Polewalimandar, West Sulawesi. In this island you’ll find many kinds of cat. Because this island known as habitat for wild cat. Althought those are wilds but they look so beautiful.

6. Simping Island

The next unique island is Simping Island. Simping island is an island in South Singkawang, Singkawang, West Kalimantan. The island formerly was known as Kelapa Dua Island.What makes Simping island so unique is the fact that it is the World’s smallest island. This has been recorded by United Nations (UN), and thus its exsistence as the wolrd’s smallest island is recognized by the international community, as seen on status board of the island. Simping Island actually consists of sand and rocks and overgrown with some trees. This tiny island also has beautiful views of the beach, sea and surrounding hils. Therefore, not surprising that althought very small, the island is never lack of visitors.

7. Kumala Island

The last unique island is Kumala Island. Kumala Island located in the middle of Mahakam River, East Kalimantan. This island is a recreational Park . At first, this 85 hectare Island was a sedimentation of mud, forming a land. This island is unique as it looks like a boat in the middle of river. Before transforming into a modern recreation site, Kumala island was a site for hundreds of Bekantan and various types of Borneo wild reptiles. Tourism Park of Kumala Island was developed since 2002. Entrance fee to this tourism park is only Rp. 2000/person or $2.00/person. There are a lot of rides such as jet coaster, carrousel, sky tower, cable car and etc.
