Living in Ljubljana
Why I Fell In Love With This Lovely City
I have been living in Ljubljana for about 10 years now and I can say it is the greatest little place in the world. And every tourist that I meet here agree with me.
I came here for college ten years ago and I immediately fell in love with this city, so I decided to stay here. As you probably know, Slovenia is a small country and therefore it is not far away from my hometown, just about 1 hour by car.
I especially love the atmosphere of the city and nice people you meet every day on the streets, parks and markets. It's a lively city, full of great places to take a walk, hang out, eat, drink and have fun. During the school year Ljubljana is full of students (there is the biggest University in Slovenia), that are replaced by tourists during the summer.

Ljubljana is the capital and the largest city of Slovenia. It is situated in central Slovenia and from there it takes you only one hour or less to everywhere you wanna go (sea, mountains, lakes or all the neighboring counties).
So, what is so great about Ljubljana?
Let me tell you...
Ljubljana is small city with relaxed atmosphere, situated by lovely river Ljubljanica. It's lovely just to take a walk there or drink a coffee. Of course, there is also a lot of sightseeing for tourists. Allow me to point out some of them quickly.
The centre of Ljubljana is Preseren Square, a lovely old town square at the end of the Triple bridge, which is another historical sight. It is surrounded by lots of shops, restaurant and bars where you can drink coffee or beer. It is meeting point for locals and tourists as well or just a place to hang out.
Very charming is also The old town (you find it just a minute from Preseren square) which consist of three old squares (Old square, Town square and Upper square), lot of beautiful historical buildings and bridges over the Ljubljanica. It's just lovely!
If you want to see a spectacular city view, you go to Ljubljana Castle. It about 15 minutes walk from the old town or you can take funicular which takes you right to castle. It is a fun ride :).
From up there you can catch a great view of Alps as well.
And if you wanna some relaxation in nature, it takes you only 10 minutes walk and you come to beautiful Tivoli Park. It is quite huge green area with many walkways, small heels for hikes, flowers, children playgrounds and of course, cafes. A little further you come to ZOO. And from my own experiences I can say that during the summer it is the best place to relax and to hang out there with your friend in the shadow of the trees.
The city is lively also at evenings. There are a lot of bars, clubs, concerts, festivals (especially during the summer), cultural and sport events. You can never get bored, if you live in Ljubljana!

Festive December in Ljubljana
Every December Ljubljana turns into a magical place with thousand of shining lights. It is so beautiful that takes your breath away! There is Ljubljana's Festive Fair with many stalls offering different products, Christmas presents, typical Slovenian food, other snacks and drinks (most of mulled wine and mead). Nearby squares host free concerts and other events every night, so it is very lively.
Another place that I love in Ljubljana (and it is my favorite) is the so-called Trnovo "beach", which is located about a kilometer from the old town. This is the place where young people hang out at nights, while it is also wonderful for some sunbathing in summer. Nice memories :).
