Visit Stuart Florida
Enjoy this Small Treasure Coast Town
I love visiting Stuart, Florida. It is a wonderful small town (pop 15593) that is located on the Florida Treasure Coast. We have traveled to Florida for the past several winters and each time I make sure we take a day or two to take a side trip to Stuart.
Stuart has several interesting museums, lots of great places to eat, and some unique shopping. If you like water sports, Stuart is the place for you. It is know as the "Sailfish Capital of the World" for the large population of sailfish found off the shores. If you cross the St. Lucie River you will find some beautiful beaches and all the sports that go along with it.
Each year when we go to Stuart, I discover some new places that I enjoy. On this page I will share some of the places I have explored in the past.

Downtown Shopping in Stuart - an eclectic selection
Whenever we go to Stuart, I like to take some time to stop in all the little shops. There is a wide variety of different types of shops. You will find antique shops, craft shops, boutique clothing stores, jewelry stores and stores with small gift items. If you want to stop for a bite to eat along the way there are many restaurants and a wonderful chocolate shop. You can also find a yogurt shop and an ice cream shop. One of my favorite shops is a shop called Go Fish. In this shop you will find handcrafted items from around the world. I purchased an unique shell necklace this past year.
Lyric Theater - live theater
The Lyric Theater has been entertaining residents and vistors of the Treasure Coast since it first opened in 1926. This small, 500 seat, hall lets you feel as if you are a part of the production. The Lyric features a wide variety of performances from both national and internationally renowed artists. Their year round schedule includes comedy, concerts, musicals, drama and dance. For a fun evening stop by the Lyric and take in a performance.
Discover Stuart Florida - learn about the area
I always like to look through a guidebook before I go to a new area. This way I can plan my trip and see all the places I would like to visit.
This is a great guidebook for Stuart and the surrounding area.
Be prepared with a postcard to send home.
An oldtime postcard from Stuart.
Boardwalk along Waterway
Along the St. Lucie river you will find a boardwalk that stretches all across the downtown area. It is a great place to take a stroll, try a little fishing, or just hang out and enjoy the beautiful scenery. There is also a paddleboat ride that leaves from the dock at the boardwalk.
Stuart Feed Store
Right off the downtown area you will find this old feed store turned into a museum. It is a wonderful place to spend an hour or so wondering around the relics from the days gone by. You will find a lot about Stuarts history at the museum and you will also find products and appliances that were used during the early twentieth century. There is a little bit of everything in this museum from old sewing machines, refrigerators, and stoves to cigar boxes, old post cards and much more.
After you are done at the museum you can stop by the nearby Pelican Cafe to enjoy a nice lunch on the water.

Restaurants in Stuart - large selection of places to eat
There are lots of restaurants in the Stuart area. Here are three that I can personally recommend.
We stopped at this restaurant for lunch while shopping in Stuart. They have a great lunch menu with soups, salads, and sandwiches. Excellent clam chowder!
- Osceola Street
Excellent food! At a recent lunch I had a walnut, blue cheese and pear salad that was wonderful!
- Pelican Cafe
Great food and a view of the St. Lucie river.
Hutchinson Island Beaches
Just across the bridge over the St. Lucie river you will find miles of beautiful beaches. They have great public access and changing facilities too!
While you are across the bridge, be sure to take some time to visit the Elliott Museum.
