An Introduction

Wanderlust is the feeling of wanting - or needing - to travel and explore places. Some people feel this strongly, whilst others have little desire to see much of the world. I suppose it all depends on your priorities in life, because travel often needs to be top priority to actually make it happen.

If you are somebody who already has the travel bug, or you just can't wait to get started, then I hope this page will give you ideas for where to go, and good advice and tips. Travel is something that was very difficult or even impossible a century ago, but now it's become so much easier to reach almost anywhere in the world and low-cost airlines have opened up the travel opportunities to so many more people. Modern transport systems have made the world seem smaller than ever before

If we never travelled we would only know our local area and never experience other countries and cultures, or see anything other than the very tiny area we live in. Travel is important to do at least once in your life in order to, as is often said, 'broaden your horizons'.

Other reasons include: Educational value gained from learning about the geography, history and culture of another country. A change of perspective so you have a 'wider world view'. Being able to connect with other people from a wider variety of backgrounds. To learn/practice a foreign language. Gives you the opportunity to relax and take in your surroundings without the pressures of 9-5 work, and to 'recharge your batteries'. Opens your eyes to what is out there and encourages you to step out of your comfort zone and try so many things for the first time. Learn to take a chance and say yes more to life's opportunities. Offers personal satisfaction, especially if you travel on your own or you try to challenge yourself with extreme activities or other adventures. Helps you get to know yourself much better by learning what you can and can't do, and what your strengths and weaknesses are. Learn that you can probably do a heck of a lot more than you think :)

The great thing about travel is that it challenges you as well as being fun, plus the resulting memories will last forever.
