Whitewater, Kansas

Updated on April 5, 2017

Exploring This Butler County Town

Whitewater is slightly off the beaten track. I visited it because I have a relative staying at Wheat State Manor in Whitewater.

Although I'd been to the nursing home a number of times, this time I took the time to wander around town. If you're in the area, I'd recommend stopping by to see some of the architectural gems in this small Kansas town.

I'll give you a glimpse with some photos and descriptions below, that way, even if you're unable to visit in person, you can enjoy this quaint town via photography.

I love small towns like this, to visit, not to live. I grew up in a small town (250 people) and the charm of the buildings and friendliness of the people is great. I love your photos of the tin ceilings and the buildings.

Indeed! I LOVE exploring small towns and Whitewater looks attractive for someone like me who doesn't like big towns. I particularly like the bank, this reminds me the time banks were small and friendly...

Yes, I love them. There are so many lovely ones in my province and Washington state that I love to explore. The city I live in isn't very big either, I prefer that to really large cities.

Yes, fascinating. This one's a gem. I feel very threatened by the skyscraper downtowns of some cities. Lovely lens thanks.

There are so many interesting small towns in Kansas. I was able to travel to many of them when Kansas was part of my region at work. I've never been to Whitewater though. Thanks for an informative visit!
