Wildlife enthusiasts and twitcher heaven

With over 60 animal and 400 bird species

South Luangwa National Park has been cited by experts as one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries in the world. The reason for this is the intense concentration of bird and wildlife drawn to the Luangwa river and it's ox bow lagoons.

The Luangwa River is the most intact major river system in Africa and the life blood of the 9050km² National Park, which hosts a wide variety of birds, wildlife and vegetation. The infamous 'walking safari' originated here and is still one of the finest ways to experience this pristine wilderness area. The changing seasons range from dry, bare bushveld in winter, to a lush green wonderland in the summer months. With over 60 different animal species and over 400 different bird species, the South Luangwa National Park will capture the heart of the most jaded traveller.
