Wildlife enthusiasts and twitcher heaven

With over 60 animal and 400 bird species

South Luangwa National Park has been cited by experts as one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries in the world. The reason for this is the intense concentration of bird and wildlife drawn to the Luangwa river and it's ox bow lagoons.

The Luangwa River is the most intact major river system in Africa and the life blood of the 9050kmĀ² National Park, which hosts a wide variety of birds, wildlife and vegetation. The infamous 'walking safari' originated here and is still one of the finest ways to experience this pristine wilderness area. The changing seasons range from dry, bare bushveld in winter, to a lush green wonderland in the summer months. With over 60 different animal species and over 400 different bird species, the South Luangwa National Park will capture the heart of the most jaded traveller.

Each day gives rise to a multitude of options when it comes activities on this soul safari. Enjoy yoga sessions, bush walks, guided meditation (even an open eye walking meditation), game drives or simply relax in the heat of the day with a good book. Regardless of your choice of activity, you are bound to be delighted and surprised - perhaps a herd of Elephant gathering at the waterhole will draw your gaze or the majestic sight of an eagle overhead. Regardless of how you fill your day, one thing is certain - you will get back richer from the experience.

@julieannbrady: Going on a safari is truly amazing. hehe, yes always a good idea to know where the wildlife is before you go into a meditation. The journey leader teaches an open eye walking meditation which is quite a fascinating experience.

You know, I have never been on such a safari! It sounds pretty amazing ... I'd be on the look out for wild animals ... and then I'd try some meditation.
