They Wanted You to Close Your Heart

That inner stillness

Keeps you alive

In dead silence

Keeping you sane

Through the mad

They wanted you to

Close your heart

In many ways

To stop caring

Put it all away

All the poems

In the world

Could not explain

The strength

It took when my

Loved one was killed

By a demon

Gone wild and mad

My heart broke in two

It bled with pain

Begging for it to stop

To feel nothing

Pitter

Patter

I heard

In the darkest nights

My heart kept beating

Living on

Beaten and bruised

It still survived

Although all life

Was stripped aside

And that gentle heart

Is still alive

Beating silently

On it thrives

Cool poem. It somehow makes me grateful that mine beats on.

The poem flows well, like the blood that keeps the heart beating.

Most emotional poetry. Love the creativity of the beating heart here.
