From time to time, epoch-making great heroes have been born from the fertile womb of the Nepalese mother. And charioteers riding the chariot of nationalism have emerged. Prithvi Narayan Shah is one of the most important historical heroes born of a Nepali mother. According to the needs of the age and the demand for Nepali soil. He has laid a strong foundation of Nepali nationality with the aim of improving the Nepali situation. Raising a strong pillar of nationality, he smiles on the torn face of a Nepali mother. And spreads the light of happiness on her face.

Birth

He was born in 27 Poush1778 B.S. in Gorkha District. His father was Narbhupal shah and his mother was Kaukshalya vati. King Narbhupal shah has four queens with four marriages. The first queen Chandra Prabha Vati Devi did not get any children. Second queen Kausalya Vati had 3 children their name were as follows

  • Prithvi Narayan Shah,
  • Dalmardan Shah,
  • Prithivi pati Shah.

The first queen did not have any children so she had adopted Prithvi Narayan Shah. And she took all the necessary care of him.

Growing of Prince

Prithvi Narayan Shah was a promising and talented person from a young age. Growing up in the arms of his eldest aunt Chandra Prabhavati, he had acquired knowledge about politics from an early age. It is said that he was given the gift of victory by Manakamana Mai in his childhood. He was especially blessed by GorkhNath Baba.

Family life

The first married of Prithvi Narayan Shah was done with Indrakumari; she was the daughter of King Hemkarn Sen princess of Makwanpur. Unfortunately, the married was not successful because Prithvi Narayan Shah has demanded one elephant with one tooth. The total cost was nine Million. He wants to take his wife with him at the married time but the princess's father rejected all the demand. Due to this Prithvi Narayan Shah was feeling very insulted. So in the same year, he had done another marriage with Narendra Laxmi daughter of Ahimansingh princess of Banaras (India).

Ceromony

In 1799 B.S. Prithvi Narayan Shah Father got death at that time he was only 20 years old. And he becomes the king of Gorkha. As soon as he became king, Prithvi Narayan Shah meditation did not focus on fun, or on luxury. His vision reached the miserable divided state. This was being torn to pieces; His attention was drawn to the precarious situation of Nepal. At that time, which was divided by selfish rulers and blinded by crooked imperialist rulers. He made his ambitious but far-sighted dream of conquering the twenty-two and twenty-four kingdoms scattered in the west, the city-dwellers in the valley. The Kirat kings of the South Terai and the East a dream of his life. Napoleon's statement that "the impossible is in the dictionary of fools" was also reflected in Prithvinarayan's life.

Preparation of War

In 1800, King Prithvi Narayan Shah attacked Nuwakot in command of Kaji Biraj Thapa. Unfortunately, he did not get success and he returns empty hand. Prithvi Narayan Shah realized that he did not have enough weapons and trained military force. So solving this problem he thinks and decided that every house should pay some money for weapons. After then he went to Kashi, Banaras from where he bought the weapon and trainer for his force. After some time he made a disciplined military force(Gorkhali).

Victory on Nuwakot

In 1801B.S. King Prithvi Narayan Shah again attacked Nuwakot. This time the commander was Brave Kalupandey and the gorkhali attacked suddenly. The people of Nuwakot cannot understand what happened and they run here and there. At the same time, Dalmander Shah catches the Nuwakot commander and cuts him and the gorkhali got the victory over Nuwakot. This victory made them more powerful and by 1803 B.S. they captured Sakhu, Sindhupalchowk, Kavereplalnchowk area. But Prithvi Narayan Shah was not satisfied his main target was Kathmandu valley and this was not easy. Prithvi Narayan Shah realized that before attacking Kathmandu he has to attack Kirtipur

Attack on Kritipur

1814B.S.he sent Kalu Pandey and his force to attack kirtipur at the same time the king of Kantipur(Kathmandu) realized. That if gorkhali wins than after some time they will attack Kantipur(Kathmandu) so he himself went to help Kirtipur. Soon he also gives a message to the king of Lalitpur and Bhaktapur. That if gorkhali will win to kirtipur than they will attack us. Now the four kingdoms were one side and gorkhali were alone but they fought bravely. Unfortunately, Kalu Pandey shot with an arrow and he falls down at the same time the other force killed him. Gorkhali did not have the commander so they run away, the king also saved his life very difficulty. In this 500 gorkhali were killed, this was a very heavy loss to gorkhali but they did not give up.

Capture on Makwanpur

In 1819 B.S. in command of Kaji bansram Pandey, Keher Singh basnet, Mahodam Kirti Shah, with others gorkhali attacked Makwanpur. In this war gorkhali got the victory, their 50 soldiers and 400 Makwani soldiers were killed. The Makwanpur king, Minister, and remaining soldiers ran away to Hariharpur gadhi. After maintaining peace on Makwanpur, the gorkhali force attacked Hariharpur gadhi. They got the victory, their 55 and 400 Makwani soldiers were killed. The family of makwani king was arrested but the king himself and his minister ran away to khudaghat. There they appeal for help with Bengali Nawab Mir Kasim. Mir Kasim helped him and sent 3000 Bengali forces in command fo Gurgin Kha to attacked on Makwanpur. In that war, gorkhali frighted bravely and they got the victory,

Their 100 soldiers and 1700 Bengali soldiers were killed. In this war, gorkhali got the benefit that they captured 500 guns. After seeing the result of the war the Makwani king surrender himself. King Prithvi Narayan Shah got a complete victory against Makwanpur.

Wrong Judgement

Now he was on fire, he decided to attack again on Kirtipur. When he held a meeting for attack than everybody said please stop. This is not the right time but king Prithvi Narayan Shah did not listen to anyone. So In 1821 B.S. in command of Surpratap shah, Kaji Daljeet Shah, and Shree Harsh gorkhali went to attack Kirtipur. This time the Kirtipur force did not come for the fight they closed all their door and waited inside. The gorkhali forces tried to go inside by climbing on the wall. When climbing on wall Surpratap shot by an arrow on his eyes and he was seriously injured. others also tried but they did not get success and they returned empty hand.

Kirtipur Attack second time

In 1822 gorkhali again attacked on Kirtipur. This time also did not come for a fight they closed their door and waited inside. Gorkhali forces also did the same, they waited for six months. The result was this made the shortage of food and everything in Kirtipur. At last, the commander of kirtipur becomes frosted and he opens the door. The gorkhali forces went inside and they got victory over Kirtipur.

History was made

King Prithvi Narayan Shah, a pioneer of national unity and a historical epoch maker, has laid a strong foundation of Nepali nationalism by giving a collective form to the individual state. The King said that Nepal and Nepalis are united not only geographically but also culturally and emotionally. He has established himself as a gardener by developing the soil and the heart as a common garden and flower garden. He is a great personality of patriotism and unity who rejuvenated modern Nepal by fighting both domestic and foreign enemies. His majesty Pratap Singh shah

the elder son of King Prithivi Narayan shah was Pratap Singh shah. He was born in jestha, 1808 B.S. Pratap shah become the king of Nepal in Magh, 1, 1831 B.S. Pratap Singh shah did not rule for a long time. He ruled for 2 years, nine months. In1834 B.S. He left the world.


His majesty Run Bahadur shah.

Ran Bahadur shah was born in jestha 10, 1832 B.S. and after two years of his birth only he becomes the king of Nepal when Ran Bahadur shah was young that time His majesty Rajendra Laxmi and Bahadur shah they both looked the country when Ran Bahadur shah was 10 years old at that Period Rajendra Laxmi died after the death of Rajendra Laxmi Bahadur shah take the change of the kingdom. When RanBahadur shah become matured he took the charge and started to ruled and made so many changes. In Aashin, 19, 1855B.S. King RanBahadur shah made his son king and he himself went to Kashi(India) for meditation. But In 1860 B.s he returned back to Nepal but due to his family Problem, he was killed by his own brother SherBahadur shah.


His Majesty Gribanyudh Bikram shah.

Gribanyudh Bikram Shah was the son of His majesty Ran Bahadur shah and Knativati. Gribanyudh Bikram shah was born in 1854 B.s. His father's time only when he was one and a half years old he becomes the king and in 1873 when he was 20 years He left the world. In his Period Nepal lost his One-fourth of his Territory by British India.


His majesty Rajendra Bikram shah

His majesty Rajendra Bikram shah was the elder son of His majesty Gribanyudh Bikram shah. He was born in1870 B.s. He was three years old, he becomes the king of Nepal in 1873 B.s. In his period there were many unbelievable things happen like the suicide of the great Bhimsen Thapa, Murder of Mathwor Singh Thapa, and Gagan Singh. In 1904 B.s. to 1938B.s. Rajendra Bikram shah was in prison in Hanuman dhoka(Kathmandu) and in prison only he left the world and went to heaven.

His Majesty Surendra Bikram Shah

His Majesty Surendra Bikram Shah was born in Aswin 20, 1886 B.s. Prime Minister Jung Bahadur Rana changed the Rajendra Bir Bikram shah and made Surendra Bikram shah the king of Nepal in 1904 B.s. he ruled for 34 years and in 1938B.s.
