Kenra Clarifying Shampoo Review

Updated on September 30, 2014

I purchased Kenra clarifying shampoo in hopes that it would help my hair feel and look less greasier and more cleaner in between washings. This shampoo contains grapefruit and witch hazel extracts which help to remove buildup in the hair. I do not use any other products, such as hair spray or gels, but my hair does tend to get oily and greasy on the days that I do not wash it. In fact, sometimes my hair would feel a bit greasy even after washing it with my regular shampoo.

Just to get an idea of my hair type, it is long and layered, down to the middle of my back. It is also high lighted, so I did worry that a clarifying shampoo could cause more damage to color treated hair. However, Kenra clarifying shampoo stated that it is color safe and gentle enough to use everyday. So far, it does not seem to be dulling my hair color like other shampoos do. I would not use this product everyday though as I think it would be too drying for my hair.

I use Kenra clarifying shampoo about three or four times a month and I have noticed that my hair is less oilier and greasier than usual. It seems to be doing a good job at keeping my hair feeling fresher and cleaner on the days when I do not wash it and the day that I do wash it. The scent of this shampoo smells like a subtle hint of grapefruit when it applying it to my hair but after washing and blow drying, the scent kind of fades away.

I purchase a 10.1 oz bottle of this shampoo for about $12 and it lasts a long time because I do not use it as frequently as a normal shampoo. I would recommend this product to anyone with greasy, oily hair or to someone who uses a lot of hair products throughout the week. This shampoo may help to get rid of the buildup on the scalp and keep it fresher and cleaner in between washings. Even though the product says that it can be used daily, I would not recommend using it everyday or more than twice a week because it may dry out your hair too much.
