A displaced Northerner living in the deep south who loves to write, read, play golf, entertain, travel and cook. Eating what I cook is optional. My home is in Georgia, but my heart will forever remain north of the Mason Dixon line where I was born and raised.
A 1978 gradutate of Bethany College with a BA in Communications, I spent my career in the non-profit sector as a development/public relations/marketing professional. I've raised five children and one husband.
In the early 2000s, I developed a Malaria Prevention Training Program that was used to teach people in a remote area of Uganda how to protect themselves and their families from the devasting disease of malaria. As a part of the training, insecticide treated bednets were distributed. This program helped to dramatically reduce the incidence of malaria in the region where we conducted training.
I was also a part of a group of concerned American professionals who started a coffee farm in that country to assist the impoverished people of the Bunyoro-Kitara region. Although I'm no longer directly involved in its administration, the coffee farm continues to thrive and has become a model in Uganda for outstanding agricultural development and land use.
My favorite sports team? The Pittsburgh Steelers. Is there any other football team in America?
