Being opinionated
Opinions
I don't always agree with another persons point of view but I always try to learn from it. Sometimes I will say something and at others I will remain quiet. I will not be rude or abusive unless the situation lends itself to it because I am not that sort of person. Better for all to just let the thing go.
There are times however when I find it is necessary to let people know because I feel it is important that I do. Rather than ramble on I feel it is preferable just to post a link to one of my, or someone else's hub or Facebook page or one of my articles on ZooNews Digest. It has all been said already. The points have been made.
If any traffic does link to the hub then that is a bonus but it is not the reason that readers have been directed there.
I have up to now posted such links, along with five or six lines to several discussion groups. I have carefully checked any community or posting guidelines first. I don't want to break the rules, be overly promotional or to upset anybody. That is not the point. The point is to educate, to let other readers that there is another point of view, another side to the story. In my attempts to educate I seem to irritate.
What happens? I am removed from the group and whatever posts or links I have made are removed with me. Why? Well I have thought long and hard on this. It is because the group moderator disagrees with what I have to say. If they don't like it then they censor.
Opposites
Strangely I actually agree with some forms of censorship. There are things I sometimes stumble across on the Internet that I wish that I had not and cannot get off the page fast enough. I would remove these. Don't get me wrong, I am very open minded and consider a bit of porn to be both harmless and healthy...but there are things.
My postings are nothing to do with subjects of that nature and yet I have found that with a single post with an opposing point of view that I can be banned. It is hard to believe that some people can be so very narrow minded.
I like HubPages, I like Facebook. I can say more or less what I want as long as I stick within the guidelines. Other Internet and Facebook groups appear to invent the rules to suit themselves. No point in contacting them for an explanation because a dozen queries will bring no reply.
Thank You HubPages.
But even with HubPages I have had articles blocked and removed. They are still waiting to be rewritten.
